Jesus God Or Not? Is This A Salvation Issue?
by frankiespeakin injesus god or not?
is this a salvation issue?.
what is all this commotion about?

I see where you're coming from frankiespeakin. When you're a witness, salvation is based on actions, which includes repeating the party line. For Christians, salvation is based on what's in the mind and heart. Actions favored by the God of these Christians have to do with love, not doctrine.
So if you believe in this God and Jesus, believe the central doctrine of the gospel that Jesus died to absolve mankind of their sins, and treat your fellow humans with love, does it matter whether you think Jesus is divine but slightly lesser than God or if you believe that Jesus and God are completely equal?
Do you have to hold to any particular doctrine, other than what Paul states at 1 Cor 15:4 about Jesus dying and being raised up? Will God overlook it if a sincere and faithful individual is too confused by varying interpretations and counterarguments of the scriptures to come up with the correct belief?

cameo-d, that's perfect because in the new system, we'll all be regularly lobotomized by God, too!

I need someone to explain...
by desib77 inthis forum seems to have changed quite a bit and i'm kind of confused about the different people that respond to posts.
i need someone to explain what a jw apologist is to me.
is that someone who is not or has never been a jw but doesn't think there is anything wrong with what they do / teach?.

The apologists who usually post on this board are disfellowshipped. When someone is ousted from the organization due to behavior, it doesn't mean they don't still cling to the beliefs.

Isaiah 65:17 (NWT): "For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart"
God will apply selective memory erasure for anything bad that happens, ever.

REN and MOUTHY important posters
by hamsterbait inwe have two posters whom we all love for different reasons.. they are both children of god, or at least "children".
whatever side you sit on.
be kind.. the love of christ will save us all in the end.. so why be so nasty to each other?.

Mouthy, I think this was a tactic to get away with making a dig at Reniaa because they also made a dig with someone who is well respected.

What Must an Angel Do To Repent?
by cameo-d inhas wt published literature implying that angels might repent and be forgiven?.
we all know that god does not accept a simple "i'm sorry.".
first of all, god requires two witnesses; then, an investigation asking all your friends and neighbors if the gossip is true.

Didn't God change his mind when he let Lot run to a city instead of hiding in the mountains?
If God can't change his mind, it implies he doesn't have free will.

Is the NWT the best...
by Narkissos inwt publication ever?.
or the worst?.
: in nwt i include the "study editions" with cross-references and footnotes, and the kit..

I miss the cross-references. When I'm reading my CHS Bible, sometimes I want to see what a parallel acount says (like from Matthew to Luke, etc) but I have to get on the internet to see where it would be.

An apologist, by my understanding, is one who defends a belief or idea. So anyone who defends the JW beliefs, whether they have ever been a member of that organization or not, would be an apologist.
I haven't been here for long, but it seems we have a nice mix of people: long-time faders, instant faders, disassociated, disfellowshipped, inactive w/ family in the org, active and living a double life, apologists, and the occasional active believer who accidently stumbles across the board.
