sleepless in seatle....dance your ass off....
by oompa inwatching one of my all time fave movies on oxygen channel......the soundtrack is my fave of all movies btw.....but the entire time it is on there is an ad in white in the bottom right corner that says.... dance your ass off.
now dont get me wrong....i cuss like a sailor compared to when i was a goodie two shoes dubbie.......but it did make me think that as a kid that was a "bad" word.....you could get in trouble at school for using it.......prob even if referring to a farm animal.....and now here it is on the tv screen for an entire movie???.
anyway....it is bugging me......oompa.

I think that swear words are like spices. Used sparingly, they can enhance comments or jokes. You may love garlic salt, but if you dump a cup of it into a dish it will be inedible. I can stand watching anything with constant swear words.

What the Family Worship Evening Arrangement Really Entails
by cantleave inas most people here know the combined book study allows an evening for "family worship".. the co visits march - august 2009 is really focussing on this.
if a jdub family head doesn't do a full evening of family worship and uses this time to do recreational activities he is as guilty as isrealite who didn't use the sabbath for worship.
the result, will of course be same as the unfaithful isrealite, death!!!!!!!!!

Perhaps they would outline most of the items and then have a 'special needs' item like in the service meeting.
I knew a family that used to make every family study about something one of the kids had done wrong. Each week they knew exactly who was in trouble and for what. I don't think a single one of them is a witness anymore.

When will they realise that the bus isn't coming?
by eyeslice ini was still a kid and living at home at the time, and so that must have been well over 30 years ago, that i heard ron drage (now a senior member of the uk bethel) say "if you are waiting at the bus stop it, is better to be 10 minutes early rather than miss it".
what he was referring to of course was the then then 1975 issue; in other words armageddon has arrived yet but it just round the corner and we are a little early for it.. i don't know what brought this to my mind the other day but i got to thinking, surely if you are waiting for a bus and you get there 10 minutes early and it doesn't then turn up, how long do you wait?
10 minutes, 15 minutes, half an hour, an hour, two hours?

At least with old bookstudy arrangement if you had a good conductor it could be interesting and fun and there was an opportunity for a coffee, biscuit and chat afterwards.

It seems to me that people most often need to have a rough personal experience before they are willing to entertain thoughts about wrong doctrines. I don't know what sparked you to quit meetings but many people have been abused by elders and fellow JWs. Once they are disillusioned about "Christian love" and see that God's holy spirit is not acting through the witnesses, they are more willing to check into the facts.
