Hikaru, have you entertained the idea that what the witnesses teach might not be the truth? Have you done any independent research on them? If not, I suggest you do so. If you are determined to believe their end-time mutterings no matter what facts you are presented with, all I can tell you is that you are on track for screwing up your life and there's nothing anyone else can do for you. You need to get your head straight about the truth (or lack thereof) of this religion before you can acheive any happiness or normalcy in your life. You can't keep living in between worlds. Either you accept what they teach and live it or be willing to learn otherwise so you can move on with your life. Pee or get off the pot, girl!

My Boyfriend's not a Witness...
by Hikaru inalright, with my last post it should be obvious i'm in conflict...if it's not, then yeah.. my boyfriend is not a witness.
he understands that witnesses can't marry or date non witnesses.
but i guess could say we've been stalling...looking for a solution a gray area to that black and white situation...but with time getting as it is...stalling doesn't work anymore.

angel eyes, if I look at Jehovah's Witnesses and see that they do NOT have love among themselves (this has been my experience in multiple congregations and I'm hardly alone) what is to prevent me from concluding that they are NOT Jesus' disciples? If I see a church of another religion that DOES have love among themselves, what is to prevent me from concluding that they ARE Jesus' disciples?

I am so HAPPY for you! I got me one of them good men now, too.
they really did give my husband some very pointed counsel. i remember they made him read the scripture about husbands are to "cherish" their wives.
The elders refused to do this with my ex. Whenever I brought up the scripture about loving your wife as your own body, my ex said he didn't understand that scripture because he hated his body (dude was 450 pounds and that wasn't muscle). I explained to him over and over that he may not love the way his body looked, but he sure loved the way it felt to be full of good food, have good sex, sit in a comfortable chair--he loved the way he treated himself and should treat me the same way. He couldn't (or wouldn't) wrap his mind around that.
Here's to the GOOD men.

Dennis Rodman a Former Jehovah's Witness?...
by Tuesday ini just came across something saying that one of his adopted parents was a jw and he was raised one as well.. there's something about ex-jws that just go against the flow of what's expected of them.
there's the wayans, latoya jackson, patti smith, xzibit.. i also read that dwight d. eisenhauer left, but not only left openly spoke out against it's teachings.
can anyone verify this?

SEARCHING FOR MEN
by hamsterbait inthe kingdumb misery for august has an item on how to attract men - into da troof.. subsection "searching for men.".
on the one hand they claim that the increases are so huge (in the mundane sense) that they desperately need men.. i took it to indicate that so many with penises are leaving, they are having trouble finding gofors to do their pedo protection work and witch hunting for apostates.. how things appear different now.. whereas before you were not to associate with unbelieving husbands, now they are suggesting helping him build a fence.
it was even suggested playing golf, or at least finding out what he is interested in so you can talk about it.. if you meet a male in the ministry you should talk about what he is really into.

Welcome Ellie!
In addition to the excellent recommendation to read Crisis of Conscience, I would like to recommend this thread. It will give you food for thought about some things you might not have questioned before.
Pleasure to meet you.

Blood Fractions - following quote from the Reasoning Book
by insearchoftruth inwhen i asked the elder about blood fractions he said that they are allowed because the bible does not speak directly to fractions....well if the bible does not speak directly to fractions, upon what did they base the below statement in the reasoning from the scriptures book....... .
animal flesh may be eaten, but not the blood.
gen. 9:3,4: "every moving animal that is alive may serve.

The Bible doesn't directly reference cigarettes, Christmas or blow jobs. If that's the reasoning they want to go with, they're in trouble.

Do YOU Consider Persons Who Fornicate As Being "Immoral"?
by minimus inif we were to accept the bible's view, anyone having sex with someone other than their spouse would be considered "immoral".
do you still accept that point of view?.

I am not Christian. I subscribe more to the Buddhist view that there are not a bunch of rules set out by some moral authority we must follow; rather actions are either "skillful" or "unskillful" in that they either benifit or harm ourselves or others. I have been in the position of getting married as a virgin. I have also been in the position of having sex with a man I'm not married to (while I'm single--not referencing adultery). Based on my experience, I would say that having sexual relations before marriage is beneficial. Waiting until marriage to have sex can be very harmful.
My boyfriend is a Christian. I asked him how he reconciled the Bible's counsel against fornication with our activities. He says he believes that prohibition was in the Bible for the sake of any children that might be conceived. That it's the producing of children outside of a family structure and not the sex itself that is a problem. I'm a little dubious on his reasoning, but since I'm reaping the benefits I'm not about to complain.
