The apologists who usually post on this board are disfellowshipped. When someone is ousted from the organization due to behavior, it doesn't mean they don't still cling to the beliefs.

I need someone to explain...
by desib77 inthis forum seems to have changed quite a bit and i'm kind of confused about the different people that respond to posts.
i need someone to explain what a jw apologist is to me.
is that someone who is not or has never been a jw but doesn't think there is anything wrong with what they do / teach?.

Isaiah 65:17 (NWT): "For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart"
God will apply selective memory erasure for anything bad that happens, ever.

REN and MOUTHY important posters
by hamsterbait inwe have two posters whom we all love for different reasons.. they are both children of god, or at least "children".
whatever side you sit on.
be kind.. the love of christ will save us all in the end.. so why be so nasty to each other?.

Mouthy, I think this was a tactic to get away with making a dig at Reniaa because they also made a dig with someone who is well respected.

What Must an Angel Do To Repent?
by cameo-d inhas wt published literature implying that angels might repent and be forgiven?.
we all know that god does not accept a simple "i'm sorry.".
first of all, god requires two witnesses; then, an investigation asking all your friends and neighbors if the gossip is true.

Didn't God change his mind when he let Lot run to a city instead of hiding in the mountains?
If God can't change his mind, it implies he doesn't have free will.

Is the NWT the best...
by Narkissos inwt publication ever?.
or the worst?.
: in nwt i include the "study editions" with cross-references and footnotes, and the kit..

I miss the cross-references. When I'm reading my CHS Bible, sometimes I want to see what a parallel acount says (like from Matthew to Luke, etc) but I have to get on the internet to see where it would be.

An apologist, by my understanding, is one who defends a belief or idea. So anyone who defends the JW beliefs, whether they have ever been a member of that organization or not, would be an apologist.
I haven't been here for long, but it seems we have a nice mix of people: long-time faders, instant faders, disassociated, disfellowshipped, inactive w/ family in the org, active and living a double life, apologists, and the occasional active believer who accidently stumbles across the board.

Being Brought Up As A Jehovah's Witness---Was It A "BAD" Upbringing?

I was never accepted by the true-believer dubs (only tolerated), I wasn't cool enough for the teen dubs living double lives (they avoided me like the plague) and just forget about the guys and the gals at school. Being an outsider in all worlds stunted my making real friendships, going through all the ups and downs of trying to strike up relationships (intimate or otherwise).
Midget-Sasquatch, your experience sounds a lot like mine.

JW's and Secular Societies
by TD inmost jw's have heard the title, "watchtower bible and tract society" many more times than they could possibly count.. i suspect that very few actually understand the significance of this term as it relates to their organization.
they really did start out as a society rather than a religion.
--that is to say, a largely non-denominational, loose-knit, democratic society of bible students.
