i am curious (and serious)... regarding your thoughts as to the "source" for the "sacred secrets" revealed by paul... and whether you believe he was the last to so receive (if you indeed believe so and excluding john's revelation) and why you believe so, particularly given the "gifts" of the spirit and the prophecy regarding its outpouring.

i am also curious as to what you believe such gifts are for... and how they are used.. i am curious... because i am concerned.

It seems that SA is equating being a Christian (as opposed to a being only a disciple) with hearing the audible voice of Christ. Or did I misunderstand her post?

Man in Tampa area threatens JW's with gun

first post here, thought i'd start off with a news article from today (i used to live in tpa area, btw).

man accused of threatening religious workers.

spring hill deputies say two jehovah witnesses' quest for spreading peace and religion was interrupted by a man who pointed a gun and cursed at them as they approached his home.rudolf hellmold, 52, was charged with aggravated assault after deputies say he pointed a small silver handgun at the two victims while they were going door-to-door, according to a hernando county sheriff's office report.. the report showed that one of the victims told deputies that as they approached the house at 1355 osowaw boulevard, hellmold stood at a window near the front door, displayed a gun and yelled, "you (expletive) jehovah witnesses get the (expletive) off my property!".

( the only religion that i know of where people get out and often never go to any other religion is the jw religion)..

The Witnesses, for many, do a good job of disproving the Trinity. That leaves out most Christian churches. The Bible Students, though among them are Free Bible Students who do not agree with everything Russell taught, do still follow many of Russell's teachings including the Pyramid, 1874? invisible presence, Russell being the FDS, and other things most exJWs could not accept. That leaves very few religions left, so it's not surprising that many exJWs Christians, like Ray Franz and others, do not join another religion.

the watchtower and awake have given some warnings in the past concerning materials available via the internet.

apostate and porn sites, violent games, useless and frivolous entertainment, and so on.

for now, they are contended with just giving friendly warnings.

The Society cannot restrict their members from the internet just as they can't stop adultery, lying, fornication and child abuse among all their members. The Internet is a reality they cannot stop their members from using.

Scriptures out of context

i'm working on my column nad came across this thought by ray franz regarding how often the wts takes things out of context.

they take a scripture from one places in the bbiel and match it up with a couple of other scriptures from 2 or more other places and piece them together liek one huge jigsaw puzzle.

and then present some kind of doctrinal picture based on their out-of-context jigsaw pieces.. that is like taking 3 sentences from various books on history and putting them together to create a new theory.

Next time you debate with a Christian ask about the out of context quotes in the NT. Should be interesting to read their response.

It is what it is. What we believe or do not believe is not that important, imo. What's important is how we treat one another. People who love their fellow man or who love the earth and try to care for it are found in all nations and religions. That part of mankind is ONE!

Personally, I could not care less if the Watchtower decided to become an NGO. What got me were their deceptive pro-U.N. articles in the Awake! magazine back in the 1990's. I saw that when I was still in and could not understand why they were doing that, then later I learned. Hypocrites is what they were and are.

I agree Lady Lee, but then the NT itself does the same. It takes quotes from the OT and applies them to the Christ but the context of those quotes do not always apply directly to the Christ. So, I suppose, JWs and Bible Students and other Christian faiths have some support for using the same practice.

I appreciate your reply, SA. First, let me say that my cousin is my cousin not me. I do not attend his congregation nor do I agree with everything taught there. It was merely an example of what many Christians experience. If some Christians are only disciples and only those who hear an audible voice are Christians then does not make for a two tier Christianity much like the Witnesses?

I apologize for not answering the question, is it possible for you to restate it please? My time here is difficult and limited.
