Sleepy,
My idea of paradise would be:
1. The U.N. and all countries on earth having a democratic form of government.
2. All religions practicing the embracing and inclusive ways of the Unitarians.
3. Regional and global commerce taking responsibility for and actions towards the protection of the environment and the earth's natural resources. In other words, realizing that the protection and conservation of these natural resources is just plain good business practice.
4. Respect for the dignity of all people.
5. Global education.
6. The West realizing that their massive consumption of the earth's natural resources is robbing future generations.
7. The responsible use of science, which should always be used for the betterment of mankind not it's injury.
8. A global effort to live in harmony with all other living things on earth.

"i was able to get my wife and children out, and this led to my son-in-law and a close friend leaving at the same time.
so, i am among the more fortunate in that my immediate family, and non-jw friends and relatives were all there with me as i exited.
Perry,
Like the others here I would like to thank you for such a fine post, you opened your heart to us and helped us to understand not only you but also ourselves a little bit better.
For what it's worth I would like to share with you some good news I have received recently. My sister called me and said that she and her husband have been reading the Bible, just the Bible alone without the Watchtower publications and they have come to realize that the Watchtower is not what it has claimed to be. She has decided to leave just on that basis, their Bible reading. They have not read COC or gone on the internet.
I share this with you because I know what it feels like to have lost family to the Org., and who knows maybe you too will get a surprising phone call one day! I hope so!!!

is human evolution finally over?
"for those who dream of a better life, science has bad news: this is the best it is going to get.
our species has reached its biological pinnacle and is no longer capable of changing.
Jan,
Mankind continues to be an anomaly. We determine our own course, we now defy evolution and can determine our own destiny, albeit in a limited way. The universe continues in its set course, the animals on earth for thousands of years have continued in their set course, but man does not. Why is it that only man has the intelligence and ability to change not only his environment but also his whole way of life at will?
Also, is this the final lesson of evolution: all is well until an intelligence emerges which has the potential to eventually destroy itself and much of life with it, resulting in a repetitive cycle; the emerging of lower life forms?
I am not trying in any way to make some point here, what I am interested in is your opinion on this.
Thanks,
IW
the only way to go to heaven is believing that jesus christ is god's son, and that he was sent here to earth to die on the cross for our sins.
if you confess him as lord and savior, then and only then, will you be certain that you are going to heaven.
Faithful2Jah,
A more accurate portrayal would be that "uncle" tells us what God wants and "uncle" demands that we obey!
But "uncle" is just a self-righteous demigod who CLAIMS to speak for God but really does not know God at all!!!

welcome to the pages of mind childs guide to online health and fine unscriptural dining.
anyone who has been hanging around simons world of apasta-fiesta knows that there are a lot of strange things growing in this large garden.
of all these interesting species the trolls deserve some attention as to how to best be used, avoided, or manipulated for your own pleasure.
Mindchild,
Hillary_Step was at first regarded as a troll by some prominant posters here.
I think the best thing to do is what's taught by the Wheat and Weeds illustration in the Bible, give the person time to prove who they are. Labels are too remindful of the Watchtower.

i dont know if you have heard of this one but in revelation it talks about the great crowd standing before the throne rendering sacred service day and night,so what i did is looked in other translations about this and it says great crowd r before the throne in heaven literally and not in a symbolic sense as jws view it.in the greek interlinear i think it uses the word (naos or hieron)and renders it as being literal but surely wouldnt that be upto the translators discernment.does anyone have anymore info on this ta!
!
If you do, then you have a problem explaining how the 144,000 are virgins and have not defiled themselves with women, when most of the apostles were married. Also, Cornelius, the first Gentile to convert to Christianity was married
Defender,
JWs have an explanation for everything. Like many Christian religions they must twist and manipulate the scriptures and even say that what is said in them is not what is meant; in order to explain their doctrine. It's all a sad, silly mess.
IW
those of you who are/were jw's, do you remember how the beginning sign of the great tribulation was the declaration of "peace and security" right before the sudden destruction of the nations?
the jw's applied 1 thessalonians 5 to their own impending salvation from this evil world.. so with bated breath, jw's have been watching for this sign -- this declaration, to come from somewhere, anywhere!!
could it be the united nations, or perhaps the world's superpowers??
Gopher,
You should be on the GB! BRILLANT!!!!!!!!
IW
P.S. Sorry for the GB slur.

The recognized religions of this world are an anathema. They are so entwined with sectarianism, self-glorification, and satanic influence that they are all cursed to go on repeating the same mistakes over and over.
What an audacity it is for anyone to say who and who will not go to heaven. Do they squat to defecate like the animals?, do they eat produce from the ground like the animals?, do they depend on rain for their water?, do they depend on the sun for their light? YES! And just like the animals they have no way of knowing what their end will be, only God knows.
But unlike Balaam's Ass who when seeing the angel stopped and refused to go further, many so called righteous people insist on having their way and will continue to curse any who refuse to believe as they do. They are having their reward in full, self-righteousness!
Who can tie God's hands? Is there an American Indian in heaven?, a Hindu?, an ancient Egyptian?, a Muslim?, a Christian? that is up to God and no one else! No religion has been granted total and absolute acceptance from God, each has sinned horribly and has degraded the name of God before all creation. Christians have done just as much fighting, killing, raping and pillaging as the followers of most other religions. By their works they have shown themselves to be just like everyone else, blind guides who bring shame upon the name of the man they claim to follow.
The Christ is still wearing his thorny crown; Christian nettles that hate the light and love the darkness.
