Anger, hate, suffering

i'm starting to realize that the anger i feel at this religion seems to feed on itself.
soon, i will be tried for my 'crimes' by men who honestly don't believe themselves to be policemen.

Hi Christopher, its nice to meet you. I'm so sorry you are feeling this way. Now that I know the truth about the "truth" I find myself being angry sometimes too. I'm angry at them for tricking me, and I'm more angry at myself for letting them trick me. And I'm angry at the situation that I'm stuck in right now.
But you can't let that take over your life. I know it must be hard with your wife being so into the cult and you feeling so under-appreciated and valueless but you're not valueless at all. The first thing you have to do is love yourself. It's not enough to just accept yourself, although that is a good place to start. It's ok to be angry and hurt, but it's not ok to feel like that all the time. Life has meaning, but YOU have to make it have meaning. Maybe pick up a new hobby, meet some new people, take some classes at a local college, etc. Don't let the anger and feelings of no self worth run your life. Don't let anyone dictate what your life is or what it will be in the future. It's YOUR life whether you think it just came out of nowhere or God gave it to you. It's YOURS to make it whatever you want it to be.
And for what its worth, I like who you are. I have enjoyed getting to know you from your posts and I guarantee many people on this site feel the same way. I hope that you can accept that you are a great person, even for just being strong enough to break free of the cult. You have freed your mind and heart from that eslavement and that makes you a hero in my book.

Scriptures and Door to Door Witnessing

The main scripture used to justify the preaching work Matt 24:24 "this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth..."
Another one used is Acts 20:20 where the apostle Paul talks about teaching "publicly and from door to door". That's where the door to door part comes in. I know there are other scriptures but these are the two that come to mind right now. It's not a requirement in that if you don't go preaching you will be disfellowshipped or kicked out, but you will be considered "inactive" and most of the JWs will look down on you because its a command (Matt 28:19, 20 "go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations.."

my mum taught us very valuable lessons about Jehovah in her special way. Any other parents out there as psycho?
by God Chick inok before i start i know my mum was um "special" and had some, well...... bizzare training ideas.. .
i was one of 7 kids, dad didnt help much coz he was sick, so my mum was left to run the 'ship' and she did it with an iron fist.. .
we were never late for a meeting we sat, parents and 2 kids in one row the other 5 in row in front.

Wow god chick, that is terrible! I didn't grow up as a JW or around JWs but I have heard from others that their childhoods were pretty rough. Beatings during meeting, wooden spoons with holes in them & belts to the bum, dips in ice cold water...etc. And the witnesses try to make it seem like JWs are the ideal parents. What terrible things to do to children in the name of a religion.

I can't eat whatever I want whenever I want without gaining weight. I just love food dang it! I wish I could eat it and the calories would just burn themselves completely overnight while I slept.

i leave in 1995, wake up 15 yrs later to see what has been going on in the jw religion and find out it is completely different from what i left.
i started a thread about beards, because i wanted to know how the modern day beard and goatee fad went over in the kh's.. now i'm curious about the tattoo, piercings and short or shaved hair look.

Your worst field service experience.
by littlebird inmy worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.

My worst was being out with a sister who had been pioneering since she was like 10, and I was a noob at the time so she did most of the doors, but abyway we were doing apartments at the time and the first door we went to, the man that opened the door was wearing nothing but a banana hammock (gross!!!!) and had some kind of alcoholic beverage in his hand. (For those of you who watch Family Guy, think Quagmire) My partner started her presentation but when we noticed that the man was getting a little too excited having 2 young women there (he was rubbing his free hand around his chest and down his stomach in a totally sexual) she said 'well I can see that you are busy so we'll come back at another time" and we both high tailed it back to the car as fast as we could! We decided we were done with service for the day.
