  QFR: Should marriages be arranged for true Christians in the congregation?

  in many cultures, arranged marriages are a common practice.

  often this involves the parents of both parties making specific arrangements for their children to marry upon reaching a certain age.

  sometimes there is money or property given to the parents of the bride as compensation for the loss of her efforts in the household.

  Congregation Bible Study Book

  not sure if this question was addressed yet, but does anyone know what the next book is that will be studied at the congregation bible study?.

  i'm pretty sure we're close to the end of keep yourselves in god's love, or maybe it's finished already, so if anyone knows what the new study aid will be please let me know.. .

  so true inbetween. it will be nice to learn about jesus and not listen to stupid WT rules for a change. although i'm sure they will throw some in anyway just to keep the sheep under control.

  I Went Back To the Kingdom Hall

  last year i went back to the hall while even though i was disfellowsipped 9 years ago and never intend to get reinstated.

  i went back to talk to all my friends and relatives and blantantly ignore the disfellowshipping policy.

  i chose to go to my jw parents hall where they are in "good standing" and regularly attend meetings as they ingnore their son.

  i was just hanging up my husband's shirts and started on the section where he had his dress shirts.

  but what i thought in my head was "meeting shirts.

  " and i quickly realized that i have to start saying "dress shirts" instead.

  Oh my gosh yes, meeting clothes! I separate my clothes into meeting clothes and meeting shoes, and my husband's shirts are meeting shirts, work shirts, and "other".

  Yeah I need to put an end to that asap!

  Missing meetings due to the weather, and then attending meetings is making me Bipolar I think.

  without divulging too much information about myself, i'm on the east coast, up north.

  we've been hammered by snow storms, and from what i hear we've got another one on the way tommorrow night.

  this month, i've missed 4 meetings total.

  Totally know what you mean misery. When I miss meetings I feel wonderful, free, not a care in the world. When I even think about attending meetings I get the worst feeling in the pit of my stomach...like a terrible anxiety that just will not go away. And when I am sitting at the meetings I'm always angry and frustrated...I feel like they are trying to dupe me into believing the crap they are preaching...I feel out of place. It's not a good feeling at all. It doesn't make me feel better like they claim it does.

  So yeah I feel for you...and I hope for more snow so that you can miss more meetings and feel good.

  Elders wife says being upset with pedophiles in the hall being the same as having to eat sauerkraut and wieners.

  this couple in our hall an elder and his wife gave us a anniversary gift.

  it is a wall hanging that says "as for me and my household sister life is to short and hubby will worship jehovah forever.".

  i felt i should send her a thank you card even though i hate the gift.

  Wow, I'm speechless.

  So having a pedofile in the congregation is apparently nothing more than an incovenience? Dear brothers and sisters with kids, we have a pedofile in the congregation. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please be aware that children are in danger of being molested and scarred for life, both physically and emotionally. But again, this is just an inconvenience, not a real problem that needs to be addressed. We have every confidence that you will understand and find a way to cope with this small inconvenience.

  I don't think I will be able to stand the suspense and anxiety that I would feel if I listened to the verdict. It was bad enough going through a JC myself, I just don't think I can go through someone else's too

  Handbill for 2010 District Conventions

  the wts has announced the usual handbill invitation "campaign" for the conventions this year.

  i haven't seen a copy but i assume that it will be similar to the one for congregation meetings and from previous years.

  the usual 30 per publisher allocation.. i seriously wonder about the efficacy of these campaigns.

  one thing i do like about the handbill activity is that i don't have to present the washtowel or asleep magazines! i just knock on the door, when the person answers i say 'hi my name is ____ and i'd like to give you an invitation to the ______ convention" and then if they take it i say thank you and leave, and if they don't take it i say thank you and leave!

  most people just took it because i was at their door for literally 5 seconds and didn't bother them too much
