Good point, Thirdson. The present 'ungodly generation' will stretch on indefinitely....and the WTS has been rescued by the dictionary...as if this was not available earlier. It has used such prophetic statements for growth. It certainly worked with '75. However, now the WTS appears lame and the followers uninspired in every sense of the word.

recently i received an e-mail from someone very close to me.
the e-mail was so vile, i stopped reading and called a good friend who is a jw.
the jw knows the writer very well.
Hey Ballistic, I have some clients who write the worst letters.......i.e. 10 pages both sides...and you have to read through it all!...and reply etc. Nearly without exception these folks have a screw loose!

i know that we hear a lot about disfellowshipping - but how many families were shown simliar treatment by their relatives when they became witnesses?.
while we still had contact with my parents' families, there was definetely a line drawn.
i remember one time when i was about eight i called my aunt's house.
I think it depends on your family situation and the personalities at play.
I didn't get any shunning etc....but I can see why some do. The WTS thing is certainly an upheaval for any family.

no moaning for me today.. what i want to know is the positive side of your life that you got from being a witness.. yes there are some, honest.. well i'll start off ,.
1. i met my wife.
2. lots of friends.
I never smoked.
Never took drugs.
I couldn't care what others thought.
Became accomplished public speaker.
Had a stable life without the peaks and troughs that many others have..boring eh?
I was lucky to escape when I did!

So the FDS was appointed in 1919....and it wasn't until a further 76 that the FDS got the 'generation' teaching correct! You would think that Jesus would have made sure that they knew this most simple of facts. The old understanding was whisked away with a flurry of dictionary definitions of 'generation' etc. It left behind a confused bunch of followers who now knew they had preached falsehoods for as long as they lived.

ever been in a situation where you start to feel a certain affinity with a poster?.
i have, quite recently i began to take particular notice of one posters writings, and i thought to myself - 'that fella has got his head screwed on!'.
a week or so later said "fella" made a reference to her husband!

I can't see any JWs in 'good standing' allowing their kids to see Harry Potter....but there will be those kids in the hall that do get to see it! This is likely to cause a fresh wave of judgementalism and theocratic reprisals.
