Whose Prayers Are Heard?
by compound complex in"but peter began, and said, 'now i really understand that god is not a respecter of persons, but in every nation he who fears him anddoes what is right is acceptable to him.
' " --- acts 10:34, 35; douay version.
as a jw, if you were one, did you truly believe that god would answer the prayer of a "worldly" individual only if he were praying: "dear god, i'm desperate!

Is God's name absent in the Christian Scriptures?

One would think that, if a name was so vital, so important and so meaningful, as is the name of God, that people woudl WANT to pronunce it correctly and what the correct name of God...
Anyways, I was at the Dead Sea Scrolls exhibit here at the Royal Ontario Museum and I was there with a few friends and such, along with us were a couple of our Jewish friends, including one of the Rabbincal teachers here in Toronto, we spoke about the name of God and it was an interesting debate, to say the least.
The Rabbi was a tad older than us (in his 70's), he and his son helped me get an interesting perspective on the tetragrammaton, "All we have is speculation, we reallt don't know his Name, we can specualte and try to guess, but why? If and When God wants His Name know to us (again), we will know for sure, I am ok with God and Lord within their correct context".
I tend to agree with him.
I alos mentioned hwo some people use Yahweh and Yaushua instead of "God" and Jesus, he called them pretensious a-holes that, unless one is speaking Hebrew, should understand the difference between Translation and "honoring" a Name.
I always like him :)

From the WT own site, they admit they use the term Jehova because it is "more familiar" than they other terms, they also mention that it came from the combination of the consonants of YHWH and the vowels of "adonai".
Jehova is not the name of God, it is, at best, a popular tranliteration of 2 "names" of God from the OT.
In regards to Jesus being worshiped, I think is one were to worship Jesus OVER God, that would be quite incorrect, to worship Jesus as the son of God, to bow down before the "king of kings' and "lord of lords", to worship the Saviour, Redeemer andJudge of Us All, to do this to Jesus as the Manifestation of God, is not incorrect at all I would think.

With the shift from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant, God manifested himself completely in his Son, Jesus Christ.
When Jesus taught to pray he said, "Our Father", when Jesus prayed he said "Father" or "Abba", when he was dying on the cross he didn't say any "name" dod he?
In Jesus we have the fullness of God FINALLY revealed to Us.
Those who believe that the Name of God carries some "great weight" need to remember that it is what the name STANDS for and not what the name MIGHT be that counts.
Even more so since we have NO IDEA what the name was, how it was pronounced or anything else for that matter, other than 4 Consonants.

Jesus's Divinity
by PSacramento injust to confrim, do jw's believe that jesus is divine?.
not that jesus is god, which they obviously don't believe, but that jesus is divine, with the divien qualities of his father?.
also, do jw's beleive or agree that, in the new covenant, jesus has the primary role that was god's in the old covenant?.

Just to confrim, do JW's believe that Jesus is Divine?
Not that Jesus is God, which they obviously don't believe, but that Jesus is divine, with the divien qualities of his father?
Also, do JW's beleive or agree that, in the New Covenant, Jesus has the primary role that was God's in the Old Covenant?
EX: In the old covenant God was the saviour, redeemer, the Judge, in the NEW Covenant, that falls on Jesus ( though God works trough Jesus).

Book of Revelation--UNAUTHENTIC
by cameo-d ini ran across a blurb in wiki that stated that the book of revelation was long regarded as unauthentic and was not accepted until 1200 a.d.. has anyone explored this?.
your thoughts, please..

From what I gather, Revelation was not one of the original canoical books because of the controvery and "issues" with authenticity.
There was issues when it was comapred to the Book of Enoch (1Enoch) and how they shared some simalrities.
In regards to the authorship, it has been viewed that the John that wrote the Gospel of John and the letters is not the same John that had the Revelation, the greek in the Gospel and letters is viewed as "beautiful and near perfect", while in Revelations it is not highly regardred, there is also issues with some of the terms used, the word for Lamp in Revelation is not the same one that is used in The Gospel of John.

Most Detested WT Publication
by Nosferatu inwhat is the wt publication you hated the most (i mean besides all of them?).
mine was that faggy pink "listening to the great teacher" book.
my mother tried to teach both me and the neighbor's worldly kid lessons from that book, and you know how embarrasing it is for a boy to be put straight by a pink book?.

I tend to agree with those that mention the Revelation Book.
Having always viewed God and Jesus as being about eternal love and guidence, to view them as destroyers and such, well, it was not very spiritual.
I still don't undertsand what is the great thing about ir, I mean I can see the point of heaven on earth, but at such high a cost?
Talk about ends justifing the means.
Nope, sorry, I am willing to wait for as long as God chooses for the end, so Jesus can claim as many as he can as His Own.

...New Study on Vegetarian`s...Not as Healthy as Some may Think...
by OUTLAW insydney (afp) - people who live on vegetarian diets have slightly weaker bones than their meat-eating counterparts, australian researchers said thursday.. a joint australian-vietnamese study of links between the bones and diet of more than 2,700 people found that vegetarians had bones five percent less dense than meat-eaters, said lead researcher tuan nguyen.. the issue was most pronounced in vegans, who excluded all animal products from their diet and whose bones were six percent weaker, nguyen said.. there was "practically no difference" between the bones of meat-eaters and ovolactovegetarians, who excluded meat and seafood but ate eggs and dairy products, he said.. "the results suggest that vegetarian diets, particularly vegan diets, are associated with lower bone mineral density," nguyen wrote in the study, which was published thursday in the american journal of clinical nutrition.
"but the magnitude of the association is clinically insignificant," he added.. nguyen, who is from sydney's garvan institute for medical research and collaborated on the project with the pham ngoc thach university of medicine in ho chi minh city, said the question of whether the lower density bones translated to increased fracture risk was yet to be answered.. "given the rising number of vegetarians, roughly five percent (of people) in western countries, and the widespread incidence of osteoporosis, the issue is worth resolving," he said.. .

Thanks for the link, but I don't think I mentioned that plants don't have protien, just that, and I will add supposedly, animal protein is easier to assimilate.

HOW DO JW'S CONSIDER THEMSELVES CHRISTIANS WHEN THEY DON'T ADHERE TO HIS TEACHINGS IN BIBLE?
by Divawriter inhow can jw's confess belief in jesus christ when they do not believe in his own words when he speaks of heaven???
jesus compared heaven in many parables, yet the jw's claim that the "new earth" is where they are going.
also, the belief that jesus was here in 1914(?

And apparently a lot of them found more favor in God's eyes because they followed the law written in their hearts.
That's just crazy talk !
;)
Well, sometimes we forget that, just because someone says theu belief or says certain words of belief, it doesn't mean they have God in their heart.
Saying we have faith is easy, having faith is another thing altogether.

One of the issues is how protein is assimalted, animal protein being assimalted better than palnt, not to mention you ahve ot eat much more palnt protien to get the same amount.
In reagrds to the bone density thing though, that may just have to do with meat eaters generally weight more then veggitarians.
The more you weight, the denser the bones, typically.
