I am pretty in tune with my inarticulate self. I pay attention to my intuition.

Which part of your brain instructs you to yank your hand off a hot stove? Is this a sixth sense or simply a different kind of sensory processing?

Let Truth and Falsehood Grapple
by jgnat ini have a favorite new quote, john milton, .
let [truth] and falsehood grapple; who ever knew truth put to the worse, in a free and open encounter?.

Mad Giant, another truism. Billy for an organization who claims truth as their own, they sure don't have a lot of assurance that it can survive a good drubbing.

She is Going to Talk to the Elders About My Questions...What Should I Expect?
by HeyThere inso one of my in-laws, a born in dub, started asking me questions about the issues i am having with the religion.
so i told her, rather carefully, how i discovered all the child pedophile cases, went over some of the case details, explained it is occurring all over the world, so isn't just some random misunderstanding, but is widespread hiding of child sex u all abuse.
she was horrified.

The greatest sin is spreading doubts. I would warn your in-law that her frank discussion of these concerns would likely get you DF'd. Then she will have even more evidence that you know what the heck you are talking about.
Even if elders want to talk to you, there is no obligation to comply. How fast do you want this exit to go?

My First Year of Posting and How I Have Changed
by James Jackson ini lurked for 2 years on this site before i joined in july 2013. what a roller coaster ride it has been.. first of all, i was a very active jw for those unfamilar with my story having been a longtime elder(21 years), regular pioneer (14 years), convention & assembly speaker, etc.
i am still an active witness because i am older now, with close to 40 years in the borg with some longtime friends.
boy how i have changed!

JJ those frustrations remind me of my frustrations after I received Facilitator training. LOL. My annoyance with sloppy method detracts from anything I might get out of the session.
I send out twitter comments in meetings. All the good stuff; no use bringing presenters down.

I suggest finding new ways to entertain yourselves rather than "endure". Witnesses spend far too much of their lives simply enduring. It is like a little death. Here are some games to try.
Blank notebook, fresh pencil. Write a poem or a play. Play BS bingo every time you hear a pat phrase. Practice flipping your fellow Witnesses out of cult mode by bringing up their special interests. See how long you can keep them flipped on natural. Practice switching the conversation back on them. Cultivate new personal boundaries and practice enforcing them either rudely or not. Get an iPad and load it up with subversive but apparently innocuous apps. There are more ideas but I would like to hear yours.

No self respecting Filipino is going to pass up an opportunity to pull their family out of poverty.
With the gruelling schedule the WTS demands, how exactly are the parents available to their children?

Jw's dont really care about doctrine do they?
by marriedtoajw init seems to me that jw's really don't care about doctrine.
ephesians chapter 4 verse 11 "and he gave some as apostles others as prophets, others as evangelists, others as pastors and teachers to equip the holy ones for the work of ministry for the building up of the body of christ until we attain the unity of faith and knowledge of the son of god to mature manhood to the extent of the full stature of christ so that we may no longer be in infants tost by waves and swept along by every wind of teaching arising from human trickery from their cunning in the interest of deceitful scheming".
is it just me or does this verse totally annihilate the doctrine or belief in new light.

One exhausted mother confessed to me that all she cared about was saving her family. All her other "works" was to meet her obligations, that is all. What always struck me from that scripture in Ephesians is the variety of roles and responsibilities, sadly lacking amongst the Witnesses.

The gall to ask such a personal question! Really , isn't that between you and Jehovah? But then again Witnesses have blurred all the lines.
