Why do JW's get so pissed off w/ anyone who disagrees w/ them?
by avishai ini have read so many posts on this and other sites by jw's & their defenders(silentlambs.org for one) where so much hate & vitriol is directed at those who are'nt doing a damn thing except disagreeing /questioning their policies.
when they are supposedly taught all this love & junk, why are they so hateful?

Welcome to the forum Vash! Nice to see you using your brain!
P.S. Please be patient with Simon. I am sure you can ditch the 13...at least in the next year or so. After all, you are only 13 once.

Living a lie?
by Victorian sky ini've been inactive for several months.
i know it's not the truth and mentally i've walked away.
would it be living a lie to remain inactive?
-

I don't think you are lying to yourself. You know you are your own person and what you want to do with your life.
JT makes the excellent point that by formally disassociating yourself, you are feeding right in to the WT's hands. Such a letter is written proof that you are voluntarily leaving their organization, and they are therefore not responsible for any nasty shunning that might happen to you afterwards. It is a matter of legal liability to them. They do not care a whit about you personally.
You know, most associations, clubs, and religions do not have a formal exit policy. When you leave, you just stop paying any dues and don't show up any more.
What does that tell you about the WT's obsession with Disassociation and Disfellowshipping? Also, there are some immediate and dire consequences for you if you have any loved ones still in.

My old JW best friend is talking to me still. What do I do?
by NaruNaruChan ini need some advice!!
my old best friend in the truth is talking to me again, and it bothers me.
she was really mean to me when i was dfed and now she started to talk to me again because she misses me, but i feel bad cuz obviously im dfed and although i don't feel like i'm spiritually bad for what i am, i cannot be myself around her because i feel odd.. its like the last attachment to that bastard religion keeps hanging on!

I am wondering if the latest WT article had an impact. Now JW's are to show love to their "spiritually weak" brothers.

Poll: Please Help with my Research....
by teenyuck insince everyone (from the dixie chicks to newsense) seems to agree that the usa is the worst country on earth (perhaps "the great beast" even?
) and the usa does not "do" enough to help everyone else on earth, a short poll: .
1. what country is the best on earth today...ie: no taxes, free everything, no military, no enemies, no borders, free food, no crime, no locks on anything, no politicians, etc.

1. What country is the best on earth today...ie: no taxes, free everything, no military, no enemies, no borders, free food, no crime, no locks on anything, no politicians, etc. (feel free to define "best" your own way)
The UN reports on the "best" place to live every year, using the following criteria. Wanna use the UN as your measuring rod?
- life expectancy;
- educational achievement -- adult literacy plus combined primary, secondary and tertiary enrolment; and
- standard of living -- real GDP per capita based on PPP exchange rates.
Check out which country is the "best" place to live according to these criteria, http://www.english-vancouver.com/canada-human-development/
http://www.undp.org/hdr2002/sakiko.html
no taxes, no politicians, - give me a break! Taxes is simply an agreed amount of pooled money to pay for things better done as a group than individually. Like roads. Get rid of taxes, and we would each have to fix all our own potholes on the way to work. Politicians people we pick to manage that money. Is it their fault we vote in idiots and then blame the idiots for everything that goes wrong?
free food, free everything, - give me a break! I was raised by Presbyterian Canadian Scots. The first thing they taught me is that nothing in this world comes for free. We work to eat. Without this little motivator, we would loll around in bed all day. What a waste!
no military, no enemies, no borders, no crime, no locks on anything, - as soon as the bullies leave the planet, we can work on utopia.
2. Have you ever run for public office? School board to President of your country? Why? What changes did you effect? I volunteer where I can. Parent advisory board, condo association, etc. I get involved with the issues affect my life. Some of my ideas are taken, others flop. Such is life when we work with a bunch of other people.
3. How would you make your country a better place for all citizens? (this does not include paying taxes and not murdering your neighbor for their new car) I mean real change....what would you do, given total power over all things in your country? Within my own power, I treat people as I would like to be treated. I look for opportunities to do a kindness. I do not have to wait to be in total power to do these things. Total power is a myth (except maybe at Bethel). The higher the person moves in an organization, the more constrained he is in what he can accomplish. For instance, a Prime Minister stays in power only as long as he retains the confidence of his cabinet. He also must remember to reward those who helped him gain power, so that they do not turn in to opponents. There are peers, mentors, and members of the public to consider. Canada needs a ten year plan (right now planning only lasts up to the next election). The civil service needs a serious overhaul. The Auditor General must be taken seriously. Taxes needs to be reduced and simplified.
4. How do you currently make your country a better place for all citizens? See answer to question 3. I bake cookies. I remember to say "thank you" to the clerk in the store. I smile and say hello to the office janitor.

Does the Organization judge or love? Does Jehovah judge or love? Does it seem right that a God whose very nature is love would foster fear in His people? The organization IS NOT Jehovah. I know, I know, you have that darn tape recorder inside your head. I used to fear the end of the world (never-JW). You know, nuclear threat, the red menace, and all that. A dream helped me push past my fear. Perhaps something like that would help you. A new picture, a new message, a new tape recorder playing in your head.

I dunno. I am guessing it will take you a while to get past your old fears. I still worry about the goblin living under my basement stairs.

I've Started Studying With a JW...
by ApagaLaLuz inive started a bible study.
my cousin (63 yrs.
old by the way) is very well versed in his scripture.
-
jgnat
Who decides the topic of study? I mean, if it is the trinity thing, or the hellfire thing, or the end times thing, he has a captive audience to spread the negative WT message. (Trinity and Hellfire are anti-doctrines, not what the WT believes in.) Anybody can say anything they want about the end-times. None of it is provable until after it happened already.
There are plenty of things the WT glosses over. A good, proper study could be of a single book, like Hebrews or Romans. Then all the text can be studied in context and the full meaning can be gathered. Another meaninful study would be on how Jehovah expects Christians to behave. Starting with John 3:16 for example.

I am sorry to report......
by Scooby insorry friends to report, my husband and i are divorcing.
he could not handle me saying i will never go back to the truth.
he is not ready to face all the crap from growing up a jw.

Sorry to hear it, Scooby. So you mean to say he is going to go on the prowl for an innocent and try and suck them in before they figure out what is happening? Isn't that deceptiveness to the extreme?

Paradise Earth
by kingdomseeker ini'm new here (not a baptized jw) and was just wondering about those in here who are against the jws.
does it mean you no longer wish to live in the kingdom that jesus christ preached about -- the paradise earth conditions before adam and eve sinned?.
... does it mean you all now believe what christendom teaches about the future -- heaven & hell?
-
jgnat
Kingdomseeker, welcome to the board. It is true that we could argue all day about our ultimate reward, but each one us will have to wait and see. So, how can we distinguish if an organization is giving us the straight goods about Jehovah? Luckily, Jesus gave us some instruction on the matter.
By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? Matthew 7:16 NIV
I believe such a debate would be far more productive. Since the time of the end is very soon, I suggest we get this sorted out as quickly as possible.
