The 4 Sexual Deviants

newer visitors to this board may not be aware of the fact that the first 4 watchtower leaders were all sexual deviants.

i cannot for the life of me figure out how the creator could have personally selected these 4 men as leaders of his only true religion to be examples for all of the faithful.. i especially cannot figure out how the creator would figure these 4 sexual deviants should be used to give sexual marital advice and advice on raising children, since only 1 of the 4 had a kid and he pretty much abandoned that kid for a good part of the kids life.

also, he was the only one who had ever actually had sexual relations although they were mostly adulterous ones.. charles taze russell took "the vow" before his marriage to maria.

Farkel, what I have wondered several times over was whether some of that scandal with the younger guys at Bethel was not sort of manufactured to cover up things that went higher up. For example, I never heard a word about Greenlees or the other guy that was removed while I was a witness - only afterwards from ex-witnesses and then later here on this board.

I can confirm personally from a 1971 conversation with Ed Dunlap (registrar at Gilead at the time) that he was deeply disturbed (and not a little suspicious) of the Freddy Franz sauna parties.

I simply cannot imagine how the Society ever thought they could coop up this many young men at Bethel, work them like dogs, absolutely forbid them social contact with the opposite sex, and then somehow not expect that some kind of homosexual contact was going to occur - at least in a significant percentage of cases.

For what it is worth, there was also a carefully hidden case of an active Circuit Overseer back in that time (late 60s or early 70s) who was molesting young boys.

He would take them out in service, warn them that you could get various kinds of VD from toilet seats, and then inform them that he was a male nurse and would examine them to be sure they were "OK". Get the picture? This was told to me by another CO, (now deceased) Dave Wetzler. I do not know the name of the perp.

Was there not a major homosexual scandal that broke in NY Bethel sometime around the 1970s era? IIRC, no real announcement took place but it was pretty much telegraphed all over in the gossip mill.

Our CO said that the official reasons were put into the DF files as either Covetousness or Idolatry. I think somewhere around a dozen or more were rooted out.

Questions: is it possible that here we find the roots of the dismissal of Greenlees? I remember a thread here of a new bethel guy suddenly being shocked to find he was assigned as roommate to Greenlees...

Does anybody know anything about former elder school instructor Randall Davis? I had him along with Schroeder 1970 - and I can tell you, if this guy was not a latent homosexual, he certainly could have played one on TV. Think of the late actor Paul Lynde trying to overact the part. I heard somewhere that he too was sort of "sent off to be a special pioneer" like Greenlees.

Not only that, Undercover, but why on earth would they think anybody would want to talk to a total stranger (who won't tell you who they are) about "how bad things are in the world" of all things?

Jeez - if I had not been an ex-JW, I would have told him to buzz on - I can easily get that message on CNN 24x7. It speaks volumes about the whole JW mindset: Whole world is in a mess...Whole world is coming to an end within probably 5 years...Don't get education or job security...our war-god Jehovah is just about to KILL YOU if you don't join our cult...

I guess the message (including their name) does have to be toned down a little for the un-initiated.

Did he say "Oriental" or "Asian"?

Oriental. He himself was actually Korean and did not really know Vietnamese - so, I guess he was going to say hi in viet from a card he had and then talk to her in english.

From my experience with Mai and her extended family, the usual term is in fact Oriental. Either that or specifically Vietnamese. Asian is not as common in my experience - but no stigma is attached to either term.

For what it is worth, most Vietnamese people are superficially very polite. (But you should hear what they might have to say after you leave!) This may be a reason why the witnesses like to call on them constantly - Mai will usually listen politely, offer tea, and then just say thank you goodbye. This, and perhaps a desire for less advantaged newer vietnamese immigrants to learn English is what is driving this weird JW Vietnamese congregation thing in the SW (at least) part of the States.

So, I ask him what he wants - he starts up with "we were talking to oriental people about how bad things in the world are today."

I said - "Look: If you are a Jehovah's Witness, then just stand up like a man and tell me you are a Jehovah's Witness." He admits it.

I told him that my lady friend was indeed Vietnamese but would not want to talk to him. Why? Well, first of all because I used to be an Elder in your religion and I had to quit because of repeated false prophecy. (looks shocked, then defends 1975 by saying that they never really said it for sure). I point out that 1975 WAS taught as part of an entire chronology (which he admits) involving generation of 1914 (also changed) and that it all really came from the Millerite movement of the Seventh Day Adventists as adapted by Russell. (shocked that I knew about it). Defends by saying that the "Adventists cannot have the truth because they teach the trinity" (almost as if everything else was OK). I mentioned that witnesses teach that Jesus is really Michael the archangel which is probably far more of a reach than saying he was the deity. (blanks out)

However, moving on, I told him, to a traditional and honorable Oriental family your absolute worst teaching is to prevent the children from getting a decent education. Education and success in life of the children are paramount to the honor of Oriental parents. Why in the world would you do such a thing?

He admits it: "Well, maybe the Watchtower Society is trying to protect these children"

Now I have him by the short hairs: Protect them from what, may I ask? Science? Math? History? The Arts? Medicine? Law? WHAT???

He cannot say. He retreats.

I am growing MORE disgusted with the standard Hollywood tripe over this guy (well, almost!) than with Polanski himself...

First Whoopie Goldberg defending him, next we have Debra Winger coming out to give him a pass, finally this morning some Hollywood Insider Gossip guy saying "look how badly we treated Michael Jackson, so let's remember that and "not say bad things about Roman Polanski"!!!

The sentiment seems to be - "he won an Academy Award, and his is a great talent, so let's just overlook it because he is an artist". Same crap as with Woody Allen. Same crap as Mike Ferrell trying to defend the cop killer Mumia something (who shot a cop in the face and was caught holding the smoking gun.)

Do these Hollywood-Correctness types ever even listen to what they are saying and how it sounds to an incredulous public?

Just for the record - I believe that the victim has more of a right to her say in the matter and outcome than any one of us and additionally, I would like to know if he has had a clean record since or if he has had other violations against him, sammieswife.

My sports car board has a posting which shows him loving around on two european girls who do not look to be 18. Don't know how recent. These king of people generally do not change their ways.

Can Someone Please Explain....

i'm not a jehovah's witness, nor have i ever been one.

(neither have i played one on tv.

) but i have relatives who joined back in the late 60s, and we've heard precious little from them since.. i've read many jw publications, talked to their missionaries and am at a loss.

Well, I'd always hoped there would be active JWs on this board. Instead, it appears most everyone is critical.

There is a very simple reason for this: The Watchtower stictly prohibits any active witness in their good standing to even look at a board such as this, let alone post on it. The penalty is to be disfellowshipped.

We have occasionally here some pro-Watchtower trolling, but I have never seen one that actually rang totally true as a real active witness.

can the elders disfellowship a person for using their own literature and scriptures in a way that makes them look bad to discipline a person?

i am getting ready to send an email to my torn and tortured sister who is df'd regarding the practice of it, how the wtbts adopted it, and scriptural reasoning that show its a harmful practice at best.

she is still convinced that she should try to be reinstated, and i am partially afraid she could print it and show it to the brothers.
