i've seen evangelical sites that show dinosaurs dying in the great flood.
these people believe that god created the earth in seven 24-hour days, and have wondered that if god could just "speak" the earth into existence, why he would need the other six days.
(couldn't he just will it into existence in a flash?).
A circuit overseer famously spoke to my congregation on the purpose of dinosaurs. He said they were put here to create petroleum - he thought crude oil was made of squished dinosaurs.
I challenged him after that meeting with the news that petroleum is formed primarily of plant matter (perhaps sea plankton) via largely unknown processes and that any animal hydrocarbons present are few and far between.
He would not back down - in a triumph of "WT style proof", he proudly pointed out that Sinclair Oil Corp. has a brontosauros on their company logo.
This was, BTW, back in the days when witnesses also irrationally thought that the creative days were exactly 7,000 years each.

There goes JWoods, partypooper, again.
Spoiling a perfectly good conspiracy theory with reasonable conclusions.
Sorry, it is sort of a second hobby with me. And it had been so long since we had a 9/11 truther conspriracy thread -

What diseases are they spraying out now? Something to do with mental illness and paranoia?
BTW - this would be easy for any ATP (aircraft mechanic) to prove - there would have to be a separate tank to spray it out and that would be plainly visible during maintenance. (note that mixing it with the fuel is not a viable theory because the fuel gets burned in the engine, and the raw fuel would likely interact with the "substance" to be distributed)
No aircraft has such aerosol tanks or dry bins except crop dusters.
Also, if you think about it, spraying small amounts at 30,000 feet and 500 mph is not going to distribute enough of anything to have any measurable effects.
when i look back at history, i see the great lengths people have gone to, to prove their devotion to god and to carry out what they though to be his will.. do you think the watchtower organization is truly trying to deceive people and cover things up or do you think they are honestly misguided or mistaken in some of their beliefs and policies ?
if so, what purpose would they have for doing this?.
The way they immediately denied their 1975 prophecy starting in 1976 and claimed that they never said it was the very height of deception.
The current way they have totally misconstrued their prophecy of christ coming in 1914 is deception.
The denial of ever joining the UN as an NGO (to the public and internally to the publishers) is high deception.
These are not simple mistakes - they are deliberate deceptions.
per a recent letter to elders:.
beginning september 1, there will be a change to the way attendance is recorded at congregation meetings.. currently, attendance is counted at 4 of the 5 meeting (public talk, wt study, congregation "bible" study, and service meeting).. but after sept. 1, meeting attendance will only be taken at 2 of the meetings - during the "first quarter" of the wt study, and also at the cbs.. .
no reason in given for the change in the letter, and i can't figure out why myself.. the numbers are not published anywhere - the only "official" record is a 6 month average the co puts together during his visit.. why request less information from the congregations, especially when it "costs" nothing to accumulate it in the first place?
Of course, meeting attendance numbers were never that much of a public bragging right anyway as I remember them. With the exception, of course, of the memorial and big assemblies. I don't recall published stats of nationwide or worldwide general meeting attendance.
It was more a way for the CO to keep track of how well the individual congregation was walking the walk.
The big deal was the number of "active publishers" worldwide.
i won't be posting on this board anymore.. i joined a few years ago, but didn't post much until recently.
i enjoyed the discussions we had.
everything i posted was to elicit a conversation.
Well, I don't like to see people leave in a huff, but I have IIRC personally crossed swords with this poster over racial remarks in the past.
Which is something we don't need here, in my opinion.

Just as a side point - do mainstream churches or catholics take count of their services? I don't remember seeing them do this - the "show church TV televangalists" do, I believe.

Well, aren't there really only two meetings a week now anyway? (with elimination of the book study and combination of it into the others)
So in that sense, only two counts are really needed.
of course, not all doubt is bad.
at times, you need to suspend acceptance of something till you are sure of the facts.
religious exhortations to the effect that you should just believe and should doubt nothing are dangerous and deceptive.
Hah! I love how they say this yet turn right around and say, do not doubt the GB (F&DS) because they are god's representatives.
Not only that, but we had a thread here in the last few days that quoted a WT article that said a person should suppress any self doubts about the JW teachings - exactly the opposite of this.
