LOL, JWoods, if they did that I think that would be the last straw for me.
Well, the first straw for me was discovering - way back around 1970 - that they had just inserted the name Jehovah wherever they wanted in places that no ancient text ever had it. So, it might not be as far-fetched as we would like to think.

Interesting that they seem more interested in having the elder's disciplinary printed materials "perfectly correct in translation" than their bible itself.
But, maybe a new NWT is coming - I have wondered when they were going to add the phrase Governing Body to it.

It is 110 in San Francisco??? I like them pickled in spicy vinegar with onion slices, cucumbers, and hearts of palm. Some of them. Most of them I would make marinara sauce and freeze it.
today i read a newspaper columnist who wrote something that caught my attention:.
"...obedience is a natural response to effective leadership, and this is true regardless of whether the people being led are adults or children.".
now, think about the gb.. virtually every wt "study edition" contains at least one, if not several, reminders about how we should "obey the gb".. dozens of the songs in the new song book extol how worthy of obedience & devotion the gb is.. each assembly & convention features dozens of reminders on how important it is to be obedient & submissive to the gb.. service meeting parts routinely offer "loving reminders" of how jws should obey the gb re: conventions, literature, donations, etc.. .
Very well stated, Sir82. Current leadership would rather see it fizzle, IMHO, than face the unknown terror (for them) of an honest reformation.
They are all pretty old, and think they have enough money and momentum to live off it as it is until they die.

Governing Body is a name and hence is capitalized because the Governing Body and Wannabefree says so. This notion is supported by god and his holy spirit.
Strange then, that Governing Body is not in the translated new testament, but holy spirit IS.
EDIT - I guess they could take care of that with a new edition of the New World Translation...

BTW, both my step-kids are Asian (Vietnamese). Neither one got credit for race into college; a lot of colleges have realized how many Asian kids have high grade point averages simply because they culturally are taught to study hard and take school seriously.

But then I remembered that they did not at all do it on their own. It was effectively forced upon them by the U.S. and state governments.
And, of course, many splinter groups still practice it.
They are kind of a weird parallel shadow to the JWs, in my view.

for example the lowly male publisher married the c.o.t.b.o.e daughter and quickly move up the ranks.
another example is that the witness girl that only date or marries up( only dates m.s,elders,ex-bethelites,or pioneers ).. .
Looking back on it from 20 years experience, I honestly think my JW ex-wife married me for prestige.
But in her case, I think it was more because my family had a little money than that I was a young elder.
i came here to learn more about the jws.
i ended up leaving them.
i learned to open my mind to opposite thoughts.
I actually enjoy the rather left-leaning political flavor of this forum, just for the balance.
The collector car forums that I go to (the ones that have a political & religion section) are pretty conservative by contrast.
I also kind of enjoy the nostalgia of hearing the JW nonsense - makes the 30 years ago that I left (without internet help) seem like yesterday.
