I'm 'Apostate' now....
by Butterflyleia85 ina new 'apostate'.. according to dictionary.... one who has abandoned one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause.
toward the jehovah's witnesses.. shewww... it feels good.
weird i never thought i'd say that.. as far as my belief system... i realize they are still going to be based on my up bringing as a jehovah's witness (morals included) so i call myself a chirstian.. {gees it feels like i just hopped over the fence or something in the movie "village" haha}.

I'm already starting to feel normal
by doublelife infor the first time today, when my boss asked what i'm going to be doing for thanksgiving, i didn't have to go into this awkward explaination of why i don't celebrate it.
i simply said that i'm going over my aunt's.
it may sound trivial but it feels great!

Bird Watching....it's addictive
by restrangled ini know it sounds crazy but i am having more fun with this than any other hobby.. i joined cornell university's: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/pfw/.
the fights between the squirrels and jays is hilarious to watch, and i get new species every day.
i finally put out food on the ground for the squirrels and they are dive bombed by the birds, making them jump with about 3 feet in the air with surprise.. the birds and squirrels have become so tame they don't panic when i come out to fill the feeders.

I am a bit of a Twitcher. I love birds of prey, they way they hunt, the way they fly and in some cases they way they survived despite persecution. In the UK they are all protected and we habe seen some big increases in the populations of Buzzards, Peregrine Falcons and Red Kites. Unfortunately some species are still declining such as Hen Harriers and Barn Owls.
Then there are the song birds, these are in may cases declining in number due to changes in farming practice. One of the fastest declining species is the Skylark, once a common sound if not sight in our countryside. Last I only the song on a few occasions.
Now that i am spending less time attending meetings and annoying the neighbours I am going to focus more time to this hobby and get involved in conservation activities.

Nov.15th WT - Treasure your Place in Congregation- "Obey the Slave Class! "
by flipper inonce again the extremely controlling measures taken by the wt society are evident in the "witness only " nov.15th wt article " treasure your place in the congregation ".
as time goes on the governing body keeps pushing the thought into witnesses minds that the " faithful & discreet slave " is the boss , god, main enchilada , the one through whom rank and file witnesses must answer to in order for jehovah to approve them.
so strap your seat belts on: this should be interesting.. under the subheading " cherish our place- how ?

I read that article and recoiled in horror. The GB are as controlling now as they were in the 70's when Ray franz was part of it. To impose a set of criteria, developed by commitee, on 7 million people is as maniacal, despotic and as dictatorial as any banana republic has ever been. I have heard it said on this forum if the GB told the Rank and File to kill apostates, some of them would, I used to think that was ridiculous, I am now not so sure.
People are, it is said, herding animals and individuals will follow what the majority of the herd are doing. To manipulate this characteristic to the detriment of the group is not only unethical, but potentially dangerous. Making individuals reluctant to think for themselves lays the foundation for this type of manipulation, reinforcing that by fear of severe reprocussions, starts building on the foundation. JW's are being controlled and are vunerable to any whim of the WTS. Very frightening indeed.

All religious organisations will attract a cross section of people. Some will be honorable and others will exhibit characteristics which are not socially acceptable. When an organisation tries to set itself up as "Gods chosen" with "the happiest people on earth" in it, it opens itself up for criticism, especially if it tries to control information leaving it. The WTS has tried to control it's members and the information coming out of it, and project an image of being superior. This places it under more scrutiny than other religious organisations, therefore, when a member is caught behaving unacceptably it will be reported. This is not persecution, it is simply the WTS making a big target of itself

I've got a Nokia e71. It has fantastic functionality without screaming "my owner is a GEEK". I can browse all my favourite websites (even this one) and access all my email accounts. I am so used to Nokia menus that I am confortable using the standard phone functions and can even text with it since it has a qwerty keyboard (can't use that predictive stuff at all). I use all the functions including the GPS, video and MP3 player and have even downloaded some games. This is the first phone I have owned where I really have used it for more than just phoning people.
