Tell the ''Governing Body'' one thing that you've always wanted them to know!
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe only reason you have total control over all of your members is your false ''faithful and discreet slave'' scripture.
this scripture was applied only for your benefit.
without this scripture your whole religion would fall..

Jehovah's Witnesses: The Radio Shack of Religions
by whathehadas inif you ever been to radio shack, you would notice how relatively small the store is.
yet according to advertisements and sales associate suggestions, they have in the store everything that you will need which is electronic related.
they have all the answers for your technological wants simply put, or is this really the case.

I smoked as a kid before I got baptised. Tried pot when I was in late teens - first time was whilst watching Pink Floyd the wall Movie after finishing my "A" levels, a couple of weeks before getting baptised. Was regularly drunk in early 20's - Saturday mornings on the service with a serious hang over is not the best way to impress the Service Overseer. Was a good dub by mid 20's. I am writing this after coming back from the pub after an evening with friend who is still in but not particularly active. I think I am a little p*ssed.

Is Atheism a Form of Blind Faith?
by passwordprotected inif god is outside of nature and therefore cannot be proved or disproved by science, is atheism a form of blind faith?
after all, it cannot be defended on the basis of pure reason.. steven jay gould said;.
"science simply cannot by its legitimate methods adjudicate the issue of god's possible superintendence of nature.

The most inappropriate remarks from Jehovahs Witnesses
by jambon1 ini have a few which still either anger me, make me sad or just make me grateful that i am no longer one of them.
1 - "well, everyone is going to die anyway, so if it at armageddon then ce la vie" 2 - "the disater today at the world trade centre is sad, but exciting" 3 - (an elder) "when armageddon happens, i want to be at a window, watching it all".
sick, sick, sick!

Speaking of assholes, the first thing they did at Cult Central after the World Trade Center was struck was lock all the doors! They refused to open them to give any water, or aid or shelter to people fleeing the Towers. Only after that news hit the Internet did they open up their doors and offer refreshments to people covered in dust and ash.
Wow, I remember the self publicity in the WT just afterwards where we told the Bethel was quick to help. I don't know what to believe now.

AlmightyHomer (great name BTW), I am not saying will never have the answers we don't have them now, so their is still a degree of faith required to have any belief in the initiation of the Universe.

Trying To Make JW's Seem "Normal", One Cult Member At a Time
by AllTimeJeff init hasn't been till the last couple of months that i have even given a passing thought to jw apologists.
as welcome as they are to post their opinions, i am struck by something that i recognize in myself and others as i reflect on my jw past.. basically, there comes a certain point, where if you are going to stay a jw and you are of a bit more "liberal" mindset, that you will try to change the focus a bit.. i recall this happened to me.
as a ms, i was very gung ho for most jw dogma and ways of dealing with people.

ATJ - I recognise a great deal of what you describe here.
This morning I went to the meeting. I was sitting in the WT study where the encouragement was to be bold about the preaching work. There was a great deal of emphasis about how JW's are hated because of their beliefs and that was foretold by Jesus. A year ago I would have been lapping up all the comments about how the media, controlled by the Devil, paints witness in such a bad light. I would have commented myself on how rejection of our message is because people don't want to live by Jehovah's standards they wangt to set their own. I would have put my doubts to the back ofd my mind.
This morning, however, I sat there aghast at what I was listening to. How could I have spent over 4 decades taking this rubbish in, believing that I was earning my salvation? Why did I used to think I was in a position to adversly judge people I didn't know, because they didn't take heed of the message that I felt was so important?
I am so glad I have begun to wake up. I still have JW hang ups and guilt trips, but I know that the de-programming will take time.

The origin / begining of the universe is always going to require some form of faith. What caused the singularity? Where did the energy for the big bang originate? What / Who is God? Science can provide empirical evidence for many theories and Hypotheses after the initiation of the universe but not everything. Mathematical constructs can help to explain much of the "unexplainable" but there are still questions that require answers. I don't think "blind faith" describes the belief systems of anyone who has reached a conclusion after a great deal of investigation. An atheist can be as evangelical as a theist, it doesn't make his or her belief anymore plausible.
