  the first time i went "inactive" (before i ever read any franz or hassan) i looked around a bit at other religions.

  one that interested me was scientology.

  (hm... out of one cult and into another, i know...) .

  i wondered how did your "best" jw friends react to when you told them you're leaving wts?.

  after i found out all i needed to know i called up my old friend who i thought was a good friend but i knew he was a die hard dub and i told him to write down a book and read it.

  i told my wife some time back that i would fade, and i compronised that i'd still attend the memorials and assemblies (at least for now).

  november 1st is the 'special' assembly day.

  she said she doesn't care if i listen or not, it is more to help her with the baby.

  Well said metatron. I always felt apostates were standing against the truth because they were secretely sinning or worshipping Satan. The demonisation by the WTS of people who think things through is utterly abhorent.

  What do you make of the Alpha Course?

  i've recently been invited to attend an alpha course at my local baptist church and for the last 2 weeks i've gone along.

  its all been very amiable and pleasant until this week.

  but i am thinking of going to college.

  Jeff my wife is doing a degree by correspondence course (the Open University), she helps run my business, looks after the family (with some help from me) and all the usual day to day stuff. Her first two years she was also doing all the theocratic stuff(I think this will take a back seat this year.

  She find her course (child psycology) a recreational pursuit.

  I did my BSc and MBA on sandwich courses, but was sponsored by my company. I found both my degrees extremely stressful and and did not enjoy them. I think the big difference between us, is she wants to do the course, I was expected to do mine.

  You are obviously a very bright guy, If you do something you really want to do, you will both enjoy it and be succesful. Go for It!! (and keep us informed of your progress.
