Hi Pers,

It's me again with another question.

Let's say that there were some JW's that found something changed at one point in time (new light) that they just couldn't agree with. These people believe in God with all their hearts, but they decided to follow the scripture I quoted to you above, and just couldn't give their conscience over to the GB, and were subsequently either DF'd or they DA'd themselves simply because they could not agree with one article of new light.

Does the fact that these people could not conscientiously follow the organization any longer because they didn't agree with someone mean that they are apostate? Is the loyalty that the organization requires from it's people mean that you MUST not disagree with the organization in any way shape or form? Doing so automatically equates one as an apostate or at least spiritually weak? How can you have free will if that is the view that the organization takes whenever someone disagree's with their current doctrine? After all, these people are by their own as well as your own account, fallable human beings. The only one that is perfect is Jesus, right? So, if these people make mistakes, and some otherwise loyal JW's believe that an interpretation is scriturally wrong or unfounded, and disagree with the GB, how can the GB in good conscience classify them as apostate (for they may be correct, and history shows that on many occasions people were disfellowed for 'running ahead' of the organization only to have the organization later adopt that very view that some were DF'd for in the past) ? For that matter, how can ANYONE classify them as apostate? Aren't you (and the GB) passing judgement on them? Doesn't the bible state that NO-ONE except Jesus/God has the authority to judge? So, by what authority does the organization have the divine right to pass judgement on people and shun them?

( NOTE: I am not nor have I ever been a JW, so I am not an apostate )

That being said, you stated

Doesn't the bible state that everyone should make up their own mind, test what is true for themselves, and hold on to truth..?? By saying such a statement, are you not disregarding scripture?

1 Thessalonians 5:21 - but test everything; hold fast what is good (RSV)

So, does that mean that truth means less to you than loyalty to an organization? Aren't you being disloyal to the scriptues (and hence Jehovah) by being loyal to an organization that you feel is wrong? Please help me understand this, as for me, this is a blatent blasphamey towards Jehovah.. You looked for youself, your conscience doesn't believe what you are told, yet you give your conscience over to someone else (an organization and the imperfect men of Brooklyn NY by your own admission in this one) and you expect GOD to repay you for this?

This very statement would scare the bejeebers out of me, since you have just admitted that you KNOW it is wrong, and yet you (as with all people) will give a personal account to Jehovah on his day.. You cannot 'hide' under the organization with this statement.. You are not blindly following an error, you know an error (or at least you feel conscieniously an error is being made) and yet you choose to follow the error...

Oh, and if you give your conscience to someone else (by disagreeing with something that someone says, but still allowing yourself to be in subjection to that authority - and ultimatly adopting the belief as your own, even though you disagree with it internally) aren't you also stating that you are a slave to that person (organization)? Is that what the good news of the bible says to do? This sounds like you are bound to the laws (doctrines) of imperfect men. That sounds very much like the pharisee's that Jesus warned about, doesn't it?

Help me to understand how this is not so, as I cannot see it any other way..

today i was out in service, met sveral nice peopel who like to here about god news from the bibel,i was reding from luk 21, and showing them what will happend, and that jehova can solve our problems.i think here in matrealistik sweden we have a bigg los of spirutal sings, evrything here is about money, and young peopel dont like this so much, they want a new order, some have gone to this proclaim the streets movment, it is a anarkistic movment.. so i must say the messege from bibel is radher the same, a bigg dissaster, and then a new order.. but i dont think as the gov body that only jw are saved,i am more i touch widh rutherfords talk,million who now live will never die.. never forget that the bibel say, we are not judges,it is jesus who have this power,think gb has forgett this thing.. greatings from the north.

See, they ARE following bible principle's aren't they.. Now all they gotta do is drop the "We follow Jesus" act and they will be 100% in accordance with their own bible interpretation

from what i can gather from the show, if they implement those changes to stop child abuse it would mean that catholics are atleast 10 steps ahead of jw's in handling it.. from ak

In 20 years or so the JW's will get 'new light' and they too will be where the Catholics are now on Child Abuse..

It may take a little while longer before the new light reaches them on the shunning issue, though.. For, if they stop that, they probably will lose the 'entire flock' of goats...

oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.

i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.

Yeah, after all, they don't have 2 witnesses.. You are innocent I tell ya, innocent <hehe>

It's possible that they *might* send an elder or two over to visit you, but as soon as you say you weren't here, they'll just drop the matter <laugh>

They were correct, actually.. They just got new light, because they misunderstood the length of a 'generation' it threw off their entire timetable...

i was sitting in my swing looking at the clouds, trees, birds, etc, and thought, what if there was nothing at all everywhere, no god, no space, nothing material or any deminsion, just plain nothing.

no space, light, sound, universe, life, thought........ am i going nuts?
