this board :)
by SpiderMonkey inalong the lines of joy's post on friends, i wanted to add my own 2 cents in praise of this board!
to put it all in a nutshell, i learned how to *drink* when i was at bethel, around late 89 to early 93. was disfellowshipped sometime just before thanksgiving 94, and have continued to be a heavy drinker ever since.
about a month & a half ago i discovered this board, and last sunday i quit drinking .

I'm not really sure he'd have to repeat it 3 times before he reached the conclusion..
It would only take a few milliseconds tops.. <hehe>

Jehovah is the main center of their worship isnt he?
Uh, just wanted to correct this one, Jehovah isn't the main center of worship, the F&DS are the main cetner of worship.. If Jehovah himself burned a bush outside of headquaters in Brooklyn, and said to the F&DS you haven't followed my directions, they'd think it was a good trick by Satan, and ignore it!

Hi Kat,
I guess I just want someone to tell me its okay to be who I am,whatever that is. That i deserve to be loved and I havent spent my whole life being a disappointment to everyone who knows me. I just want to be happy
I'm telling you, it's okat to be who you are, and you deserve to be loved.. You are one of God's children, and he loves all his creatures, goto him (directly) and he'll help you... You will find one thing outside of the organization that you didn't find inside; Unconditional love and acceptance!!!! By your very comment, "I want someone to tell me it's ok to be who I am" you think you need to win someone's acceptance for them to love you!!! Wrong, people will love you for who you are, be yourself, and you'll find yourself... Have faith in yourself, and in God, and your faith will guide you... Allow yourself to make mistakes, allow yourself to be loved, and know that the love you'll receive on the outside is alot more like Jesus' love (unconditional) than anything you've ever had on the inside!!!
God bless, peace be with you, and hugs!!!!!!

What One Elder Is Saying About Dateline
by silentlambs ini recieved this email today i thought you might find it interesting.. dear bill: i have a question for you.
at book study last week, the conductor said that dateline's web site apologized for their show on jehovah's witnesses pedophiles because they had learned that the people interviewed on the show were "not who they claimed to be.
" i tried to find dateline's web site to see what they said but i was unable to do so.

elder integrity
Never thought I'd hear those two words together before.. Now that is an example of an oxymoron if ever I saw one!
(I;m sure some elders have integrety, Bill Bowen is an example, but then again, he isn't an elder any longer.. As soon as they demonstrate integrity, they either resign their eldership, or it's forcibly taken away from them.. -- Interesting, Attitude reflects leadership, and the leadership doesn't seem to want the 'integrity' part)...

What's the "need" of this gathe...
by beroea ineven posting not so often, but with pleasure and feed-back as well, i do wonder why former-jw and i as well with my own subjects - have this "need" to gather and to discuss subjects related to wt.
some seams to use close to hours each days in front of the computer.
i don't see many other web pages of former-catholics or former members of other religions (not of my knowledge - i can be wrong).

Viewing the JW religion from the outside, I think the reason why people need to discuss it sooo much is because of the indoctrination that goes with it, and the feeling of being outright lied to when you realize the troof isn't the truth.. The Catholic's, or any other main-stream Christian religion that doesn't use destructive mind-control techniques don't leave scars in your long-term phychi like the JW's, or other like religions do...
I could join any main-stream Christian religion tomorrow, and then leave, and goto another main-stream Christian religion, and all in all, not much changes; the basic tenets of Chrisitainity are the same, and all of the main-stream Christian religions don't claim to be the exclusive truth, nor do they claim that you must be a part of them and them alone to be saved. And, of course, there is no shunning, or any other emotional blackmail used with them.. Literally, in main stream Christianity, your personal relationship with Christ and God are stressed, and whatever church that you feel most comfortable with is fine with them.. They still consider other denominations Christians also, and main-stream Christianity makes up the body of Christ, no matter which denomination you are... So, to them, you are a Christian wether you are Catholic, Protestant, Baptist etc. etc. etc....
So the JW's create an environment via their indoctrination that requires a time to heal that true Christian religions don't.. I think that's why the need for this board for ex-jw's..
For me, never having been a JW, I come here to learn more about the religion, because I feel a great sense of pain and anguish for these lost soles, and want to help them as much as I can, specifically a friend of mine who introduced me to the relgion.. I thank god every day that he gave me the good sense to research what I was being told by my friend, so I didn't fall for the religion.. But, in the process, I realized exactly how he was being mis-lead, and I feel it is my Christian responsiblity to help him, along with anyone else that I can to open their eyes.. Again, you won't find that need in main-stream Christian religions either, since they don't claim to be exclusive truth, or the only way to salvation...

Kingdom Hall Burns
by wasasister intumwater, wa.
kingdom hall completely destroyed by fire.
elder rod tucker talks to news media about fire, cause unknown.

Elder says, "We live in times where people do things we don't understand.."
Firefighters believe the fire started outside the church, but don't believe there was a suspicious cause behind the blaze.
Somehow, the elder seemed to miss the firefighter's comment.. Oh, that's right.. He's a secular source.. He's influenced by Satan, and isn't telling them that it does look like arson, or something suspicious... The elder even knows about fires too...
