So....let's say I have a "friend" whose husband believes oral sex is a sin....how would we refute the WTS line of reasoning? My CD Rom is broken & I can't look up the latest "conscience matter" line of reasoning.

Two sex questions
by Seeker4 inok, have had enough to drink tonight so i will toss these two questions out.
will discuss this a bit more tomorrow.. 1. how many of you had sex outside of your marriage after leaving the witnesses?
provide whatever details about how and why that you're comfortable with.. 2. funny question: had a friend write me today that probably more jws per capita enjoyed oral sex the night they read it was a "conscience matter" than any other group in the us.

Shunning of Witnesses
by ItsJustMe ini know that we hear a lot about disfellowshipping - but how many families were shown simliar treatment by their relatives when they became witnesses?.
while we still had contact with my parents' families, there was definetely a line drawn.
i remember one time when i was about eight i called my aunt's house.

I know that we hear a lot about disfellowshipping - but how many families were shown simliar treatment by their relatives when they became witnesses?
While we still had contact with my parents' families, there was definetely a line drawn. I remember one time when I was about eight I called my aunt's house. My cousin answered, and I could here him getting his mom. He said "Those crazy Jehovah's Witnesses are on the phone."
At my Grandma's funeral a few years ago all my cousins were lamenting the end of Sunday afternoons at Grandma's house. That was the first we had heard of this weekly gathering of all the relatives. Were we being punished because we didn't celebrate holidays? Therefore we can't be invited to any family gatherings? I definetely would have went if I had been invited.
I'll stop my ramblings with a thought on my parents - It makes me angry that they experienced this treatment from their family and were always hurt by it, yet if I left this religion, they would give do what was done to them and then some.
Anyway, was anyone else "shunned" by their families when they became witnesses?

Demons & Invisible Forces
by Celtic indid any of you have disproportionate fears of demons, and if you are able to, what was your experience in your emotions with these strong fears?
how did knowledge at such a young age affect you with the detailed graphic descriptions given my the published litureture?
were there any publications which freaked you in any way?

I used to run around the house saying "Jehovah" so the demons wouldn't follow me.

Why is it stressful to be a Witness?
by Mindchild ini would honestly appreciate any feedback of why, in simple terms, you feel there are stresses to being a witness.
the source of stress you have in mind doesn't have to be gigantic.
i'm looking to catalog a list of all the things causing stress to witnesses.. here is a list of ten things i could think of, and there are probably many more.

In following the shunning instructions I have been fed since 3, I had a funny experience when my best friend was DF'd.
Of course, I couldn't talk to her anymore, no matter where I saw her. We were both about 16 at the time. Anyway, we happened to be at the same red light on a four-lane highway, which means we were right next to each other waiting for the light to turn green. Obviously I knew she was there. It struck me that it was like a drag race - I was intently staring at the red light waiting for it to turn green so I could get away from this awkward situation. Anyway, I looked over at her, she looked over at me, and we both reved (sp?) our engines up and started laughing.
I share this because it was a small turning point for me. After that I started sending her letters secretly through one of her sisters who attended the meetings.
Unfortunately, she never forgave me for my prior silence, and has since proved go out of her way to avoid me. I won't go into the details on that. I just think it's interesting that we can try to look at the black and whites of any issue, but it still boils down to the individual people involved and where they are at in their lives.
