My wife told me that the pioneers and there families were to get together at the COBE's house for dinner. But then it was cancelled and they are only going to have an upbuilding discourse.

Did your congregation have a "Pioneer Appreciation Day"?
by Coffee House Girl inmy mom (who is now a regular pioneer) has been laid up after having major surgery, and i assert my "biblical" rights as a daughter to do what i can to take care of her, so i have been trying to go to her house on my day off to vaccum and run errands for her since she is not supposed to drive.. she called me last saturday to tell me that i couldn't come by because she was driving to her pioneer appreciation day get-together, wtf .
i'm just curious if this only happens in my area (michigan, us)????.

Do You Own A Firearm? Would You??
by minimus in2013 was a record breaking year for firearm purchases.
2014 is supposed to be a record breaker for ammunition.. do you own a firearm?
but i support that right for others---if they are qualified..

I use to owe guns until I had children. Though my family circumstances are not favorable for having guns, I do not disagree with one owning a gun if that is legal and they can secure them properly.

Circuit Oversneer Says. . .
by piztjw in"do you realize how much of a privelge it is to enjoy the visit of the circuit overseer?
they are appointed by the governing body who in turn are apointed by jesus and holy spirit.
so you have a great privilege when we visit your congregation, because it is the same thing as having jesus visit you.

Yes I have had them condemn me because I would not take off work for one day to join them in the field service during the week. They spouting off their personal opinions about matters as if it was coming from God's Word was the worst.

How Long Have You Been Viewing Thiis Site? Does It Serve Its Purpose For You?
by minimus ini've been here forever.... this site still gives us some of the most up to date info about jws .
it keeps evolving.
sometimes it is the place to be and i think that's especially true for newbies.

I love this site. The new ones experiences and interchange of thoughts and feelings are a refreshment. Minimus continue to keep your questions coming, I enjoy how they start online conversations. The only thing I regret is that I did not know of this site earlier.

New development in my life
by EdenOne inno longer a ms ........................... can't give details atm, for it might be a dead-giveaway and it ain't quite over yet.
but, it really taught me one thing: if you're trying to fade or stay in, trust no one.
and i mean no one.. eden.

Good advice to not trust anyone. The most friendly and nice jw will betray you if they think they are keeping the org clean. True friendship can easily become meaningless.

What Drew You To The Witnesses?
by minimus ini did believe for the first 30 years of my life that they had been picked by jehovah god to dispense the truth as best as imperfect humans could.
then, everything became questionable.
i had read anti jw books in the past but franz's books really got to me but not immediately.

Kingdom Ministry Feb 2014 has a couple interesting statements
by RayPublisher ini thought the kingdom ministry feb 2014 had a couple interesting things in it:.
1. a short talk encouraging the jw sales force to publicize the jw.org website at every opportunity.. 2. do not put out bibles on your table displays keep them hidden underneath.
i thought they were so p-p-p-p-proud of their new nwt??.

Direct the public to the jw.org, it is alot cheaper than giving them literature.

Very good news. Cancer can be so scary and to have it gone is a great relief. May it continue to go well with you and family.

should christains own cats?
by unstopableravens inis it appropriate for a christian to own a cat, in light of their past pagan religious affiliation and the medical information that is now coming to light?
it would be misleading to answer this question with either a simple yes or a no.
the scriptural answer of necessity must be a qualified one, and it is easy to see why.

Thanks for the insight. I prefer no animals, but my family continues to keep dogs and cats. The cats are all strays that we adopted. The cats have been very destructive in my house and yet they stay. You can call me stupid in this.

Wow, that is amazing. Thanks for sharing. I remember when I had a little one at the Cong Meeting at a home. My baby was crying and the Conductor had the gall to tell me to take my baby outside into the cold and spank him. I just stayed in the car and then switched groups. I never again liked that elder.
