Hello, I am new
by LillyC ini am not a jehovah's witness but i am very interested, i have many questions and hope they can be answered here.. i do believe in god, privately.
i do say my prayers daily and do believe god helps me in countless ways.
but i don't go to any church.. i have always been impressed at how smart, polite and nice jehovah's witnesses are and i always make time to speak to them when they call at my door.

Welcome to this forum. Many jw are nice. They use the Bible to answer questions and emphasize that a householder have an open mind. But when one becomes a jw, then they are not to question the direction from the organization. They are discouraged from studying anything other than what the Watchtower Society prints. They teach disfellowshipping of ones who question the organization. They have teachings, such as blood transfusions, that is not completely scriptural.

Very tragic event if this was a suicide. I agree that the poor families have no closure until this is resolved.

Do You Try To Avoid The Witnesses When You See Them?
by minimus ini think i typically don't want to be either love bombed or questioned.
i happen to see jws a lot while visiting my mom.
they don't go there with me, which works well for all concerned..

If I don't know them, then I try to avoid them. If I know them and had a good past with them, then I usually talk to them.

Ex-elder.
Being an elder was the best thing that ever happened to me, because I got to see the real organization with all the back stabbing and power struggles. If I was never made an elder, I probably would have still been a loyal supporter of the WTS.

Russian Parliament Approves Military Action in the Crimea
by ABibleStudent inwhy did russian president vladimir putin ask the russian parliament to approve using military forces to keep the peace in the crimea, instead of asking the un?
why did the russian parliment pass a law approving military force instead of asking for the un to send peace keeping forces to the crimea (http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/01/world/europe/ukraine-politics/index.html?hpt=hp_t1)?.
is russia spiralling into a totalitarian dictatorship like germany in the 1930's and the soviet union from 1920's - 1990's with information control and coercive tactics?

If the U.S. was in the same situation, would they do the same? The U.S. went into Iraq because of potential of terriorist dangers to the U.S. This is a neighboring area that was once part of Russia and many of the people are Russian. The U.S. should leave this alone.
