i was thinking about what i read in a recent kingdom ministry about the historical campaign the jws will engage in this august.. this is not really for the public.. it is to keep the jw's busy, not thinking about why 100 years has gone by with no end in sight, but to buoy up flagging enthusiasm.. they trying to make jws maintain a constant state of tension and expectation..
I thought that the campaign in August was directing the public to the jw.org site. The Jan 2014 Awake on the web site was not enough.
All tract campaigns are for the jws to work harder and try to get inactive ones into the field service. After all, such campaigns do not take alot of brain power, just alot of time.
just read a post on jwsurvey about the new donation arrangement.
congregations are to pledge a monthly amount to be sent to the society to fund the building of assembly halls and kingdom halls.
congregations who already have a loan from the society will no longer have to pay back the loan but the amount pledged should not be less than the current monthly repayments to the society.
Disturbingly interesting information. Does that mean that the WTS will own the KHs built instead of the local cong? Wow this changes everything. I heard one elder expressing that this is the best thing the WTS has ever did. But I bet he didn't think about how long this payment system will go on and on, never to end.
the ancestors used to refer to this type weather as the easter snap.. it's cold and rainy.. my teenage granddaughter is sullen and hostile.. my little jw daughter is cool and aloof.. i am so happy for this forum.. thanks, people.. sylvia.
Sylvia, sorry to hear about your bad weather.
In California it is sunny, warm (80s), and DRY.
in this past sunday's watchtower lesson, which has been discussed at length on this board, the gb/writing committee used a key weasal word that we will probably see again.
the exact quote is: "we understand that in mentioning 'this generation,' jesus was referring to two groups of anointed christians.".
this goofy teaching is merely a patch until they can devise something more plausible, or until some event occurs that they can latch onto that will make this teaching more acceptable to the r&f.
I like how they use multiple groups to define a generation. Their expression that one has to be anointed versus born during a period was interesting. Because ones can calculate these two groups to make the end some 50 years away, they use being anointed to shorten it my 30 or so years. Hence they push forward the urgency until they come up with another updated understanding. Also the WT conductor asked in one cong for a show of hands of those that believe the generation explanation and 100% of the cong raised their hands.
but their views on blood are just plain weird!
meat has blood in it even if it's bled.
still eating meat means consuming blood.
The new generation teaching just baffles me.
the pilots and crew of the missing plane, was something wrong with all of them?.
sylvia.
Search planes have photographed objects in the ocean that may be from the crashed plane.
It appears that the pilot sympathized with an opposing political group. When the leader of the group was convicted, it affected the pilot. But sadly the pilot couldn't just destroy himself, but he had to take others' lives.
i remember when i was a kid going on vacation somewhere with my family, my parents would always have to find out where the local kingdom hall was.
god forbid we should miss a meeting because we were actually enjoying our time away from work and school..
Vacations were my time. No I never went to a jw meeting on my vacation.
