I remember one co condemning those who visited the Florida Disney World but not the U.S. Bethel. Bethel was suppose to be the goal of all jws to visit and experience.

Bethels could still serve as pilgrimage shrines-quietlyleaving
by Lady Lee ini've been here a long time and this comment by quietlyleaving finally hit me.
bethels could still serve as pilgrimage shrines.
while the wts criticizes the many people in the world for their pilgrimages they just don't see that those tours of bethel which are so organized are the exact same thing.. you get a tour of a publishing company.

I loved your comment on Q20 about no civilian service.
Also Joseph became an important government official, but JW are prohibited from being elected to any government office.

What's with all the 'Imminent' nonsense?
by AK - Jeff incould it be that the proximity of 2014 is at the heart of it?.
i have no contact with jw's - except on this board - but my wife does at times with her family.
imminent is the cry of the sky for the jw's it seems.. i recall the years leading up to 1975 with a lot of that sort of thing.

This is a hope that the WTS has always held out to keep the members loyal and to provide them hope to endure and exert themselves.
I remember an elderly sister who was dying, all the brothers and sisters told her to hang on because the end of this world was close. That was in the mid-70s. Sadly she died and the brothers and sisters were wrong in the end of this world coming while she was still alive.
A circuit overseer last year used the podium top as an example. He had his finger point to the end of the podium and said that we are right here on the edge of the end of this system of things.
So what was said at the District Convention is nothing new.

Watchtower's New DVD - An Inferior Product?
by metatron inthe watchtower society has released a new 32 minute long dvd called "the wonders of creation reveal god's glory".
it has excellent cg graphics, high quality photography, competent editing and a pleasing appearance........ and, to me, it is a breathtakingly inferior product.
what is this dvd supposed to accomplish?

Metatron you were great in telling it as it is.
The video is a just as you described. No wonder the WTS never distributes their videos to the public.

Answers to reinstatement questions
by WTWizard infirst of all, to anyone interested in reinstatement (in response to a couple of threads about the subject, and for anyone that wants to see their family again), there is no formal letter to write.
rather, you will have to submit a request to the hounders that disfellowshipped you in the first place.
chances are good that they will reject that appeal.. some time later, you will have to submit another request for a reinstatement hearing.

And don't forget prayer. They often times ask if you now pray regularly and have asked Jehovah for his forgiveness.

I'm back... Updates about hubby...
by cognac inturns out, he really doesn't seem to like anything spiritual.
he hasn't been to a meeting in weeks.
we went out with a bunch of jws the other night and at the end he told me he was pissed they brought spiritual things up.

Glad you are back. Based on what you posted, your hubby is on the way to freedom from the BORG.
As for friends in the BORG, it depends on who they are. Some can be fine and others can be real BORG promoters.

Thanks blondie for sharing this information.
Q 10. In the first century, were all spirit-anointed Christians involved in preparing spiritual food? Explain.
Although all spirit-begotten Christians engaged in the preaching work, only a very limited number--just eight different men-were used to write the 27 books of the ChristianGreek Scriptures.
I noticed that of these 8 writers of the Christan Greek Scriptures, I think that Mark, Luke, and Jude were not members of the 1st century Jerusalem governing body. Hence does that mean that others beside the GB can prepare spiritual food?

Hey elders, how does it feel to be nothing but yes-men, wimps, puppets for the GB
by yadda yadda 2 inall you lurking elders.
you must know you are basically nothing but yes-men and slaves of the gb.. look at yourselves.
you have no authority to do anything unless you are given that authority by your leaders.

You have hit the nail on the head with your posting.
The WTS emphasizes how the world is blinded by Satan. But the WTS blinds the minds of the elders to prevent them from having an open mind. Sadly therefore an elder reading your post will not see the real truth of your statements.

Cards & Letters
by IMHO inis there anyway of taking your 'cards' and 'letter of introduction' with you when you change congregation?.
-
straightshooter
Vilot you have it right. The new congo will contact the old congo for the info. The old congo will send the publisher cards and a letter of introduction to the new congo.
To make sure that the letter of introduction is not negative, I known of one brother who told the old congo that if anything negative was in the letter then he would claim that they committed libel. The letter was good, but the old congo phoned the new congo explaining that the brother had major faults that were not mentioned in the letter.
