Wow Found out one of my Elders was DFed

my mom called and i found out one of my elders just got dfed.. i started out with three elders at the west hall and moved to a new congregation, the south hall (really an old one from when i was 16 and younger) while i was publicly reproved for the first time.

my mom decided it would be best for me and my sister to have friends our age locally to hang out with.

well we did the move and i hated the hall even more because i thought the friends their were cool and would be supportive but found it to be even more stuck up then the other hall.

Where Are You From?

alot of members don't have a flag or country name beside their user name, and well frequently one doesn't know where that particular person is from, tell us your country, state, county or what ever you feel like giving out.

if you are going to post please at least devulge your country.. me, i'm originally from taranaki, new zealand via auckland.

for the most of this decade i have been living & working in brisbane, queensland, australia.. .

i thought i'd introduce myself, i haven't been to the faux-truth in about 6 years now so i'm merely a small child to the 'real world.

' i grew up in said religion and attended two english speaking congregations and lastly a sign language congregation in britain.

i think this gives away my identity to some friends i have on here ;).

Why do Ex-JWs start celebrating pagan Christmas?

hiya guys and gals.

im not trying to be self-righteous but i want to understand the thought process of someone who knows the origins of christmas, but starts celebrating it (putting up christmas tree, exchanging wrapped gifts; repeating merry christmas to everyone they see in the month of december)??

it seems very silly to me (imo) after knowing how and why christmas was created (to cater to pagans sun worship and convert to christianity)!!

As a teenager I didn't celebrate xmas because my dad got mad at his brother for not sending him a xmas card one year. Hence as a family we stopped celebrating xmas. Amazingly the card showed up a year or so later, but that did not reverse my dad's anger. Therefore I still don't celebrate xmas out of habit.

Why no coverage of the Russian ban in the media?

Sad that this hasn't hit the mainstream news in the U.S and Canada. It would be good for North-Americans to see another angle of the WTS instead of just what the jws broadcast at the doors.

Maybe the news agencies are frightened of the powerful legal arm of the WTS.

What Ever Attracted You To The Witnesses In The First Place?

i have an excuse, i was born in it.

the thought of living forever and never dying was certainly a draw but when i realized it wasn't true, there wasn't much of an attraction anymore.. what attracted you as a witness?.

The teachings on hellfire, Trinity, not getting evolved in the military, and especially the flag salute being idolatry all sounded reasonable and separated the jw from other religions. Thats what drew me to get baptized as a jw.
