I felt that I would live through Armageddon into the paradise. I was good most of my life, even before I was a jw. So I felt that God was to reward me with something for my faithfulness.

When you were active, did you feel you would survive Armageddon?
by Band on the Run ini am curious about this issue.
personally, i never felt i would be good enough for a split second.
one would think that knowing you can not be good enough to survive would it make it easier to leave the witnesses and live for the present.

Glad you have checked in and that you are fine. I was just thinking about previous contacts I have had that no longer exists. It certainly makes one wonder about their welfare and their status.

Good and bad
by flying under the radar ini'm just a bit curios about what you find positive and negative about your experience as a witness.... .

When I was a witness, I enjoyed the literature (especially the Awake) and the association. When I became an elder, I hated the back-biting and organizational positioning of ones trying to gain supposed power. I also hated the judicial arrangement and how they judge others and shun those they reject.

Do you work with any Dubs?
by lohengren ini just found out that one of my coworkers is a witness.. it got me thinking about my past jobs.
in four out of the last five jobs i've held i have worked with witnesses.
it got me pretty paranoid at times because i was a classic "double-lifer".

I currently work with a Dub. He is semi-loyal to the organization, like sending his son to higher education for a masters degree.

Who Do You Say Will Be The Republican Nominee For President & Will Obama Lose?
by minimus inyour opinion please:.

My personal opinion is that the Republicans and Democrats have lackluster candidates. It is very sad that none of them excites me in helping to solve the U.S. problems. Again, my vote is to find the least worst candidate.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

Another factor is that fewer middle aged and younger individuals are flocking to the U.S. org. That leaves a much older group dominating the org. Therefore some, because of age related issues, do not come to the kh. If the end of the end, Armageddon, does not come soon, the org will find many more disappearing from the kh attendance.

servants meeting with CO...
by stillin inboring and irrelevant or what?!.
when i was appointed, i thought that i would share in building up the congregation.
the co is usually a company man making reports and passing.

When I was a MS I thought the CO visits were fun and instructive. When I became an elder I started to hate the CO visits. The CO wanted to be the "boss" of the body of elders. Though he told the cong to support the "hard work" of the elders, at the CO/elders meeting he would condemn the elders for not doing enough. The CO made me sick of volunteering my time and energy as a elder.

I thought the overlapping generations explanation was a super big mistake. But that did not faze any of the cong in my area. They still blinding give full obedience to the GB.
