Welcome to the forum. The WTS measure success in the status of being a reg pio, a ms, or elder. Very sad!

What were your favorite assembly foods?
by NoRegrets inso i'm young enough to not remember having hot prepared meals at assemblies, but heard all about it from my parents and the like.
but what i do remember were all of the cold sandwiches and institutional snacks and soda.
remember the food tickets we started to use?

Glander, that was so romantic. I remember the buritos served at the assemblies. I though they were so good. It was alot of work, but I definitely thought the days with food service were so much better than bringing my own cold food.

New May Awake! Am I being unreasonable or does this sound crazy!?
by toweragent inmy friends usually walked me home after dark.
but one evening i was so tired that i decided to call a taxi.
the driver didnt take me home.

Never get a taxi. This proves that getting a taxi is dangerous and can result in spiritual harm. If one goes to a strip club, is it ok if one screams when problems arise. Hence the WTS implies to stay far away from a taxi.

1973 versus 2013 (40 years later)... How much confidence have J-Dubs lost in the Slave's "End-Time" estimations?
by Calebs Airplane inback in 1973, when i was just a pre-teen, i remember that meetings in general were chock full of persecution talks, great tribulation talks and armageddon talks.
so much so, that there was a hightened sense of anticipation that the end was really just a few years away.
most j-dubs really believed, without any doubt, that freddy's estimation about armageddon in 1975 was a certainty (give or take a few months... not years).

I heard that just last week at the kh a talk was given about being spiritually awake. It was highlighted that many fall spiritually asleep because of dates being placed on the time of the end, mentioning the Mayan calendar ending. He did not mention that the WTS did the same thing and what harm it caused to ones spirituality.

Should Employers be WARNED about Jehovahs Witnesses
by BlindersOff1 inany gov agency or private company that has private personal info of customers/clients should be aware.
its common knowledge to long time witnesses that jws will violate customer privacy laws and rules when they see something a customer does or buys that they think jw congregation elders should know about .
thats right they will spy for the elders.. .

JWs or any person in a confidential employment position should know that leaking confidential information will open them up to major law suits. Just like entering property that has a NO TRESSPASSING sign on it. The WTS will not legally support such a jw.
An employer is likewise legally liable if discriminating employment because of religion.

I remember the Farmers Insurance Group headquarters only hiring those with college degrees. They would not even consider a high school grad for any possition. This was some 30 years ago.

Welcome. Since out of love for your husband you continue to come to the KH, be care about going to the nice Presbyterian church up the road. It will result in you being df. That may be hard to take since you want to support your husband. It is so hard to be caught in your situation of knowing the "truth" about the WTS and still clinging to it because of someone else.

May 15 2013 WT: "REAL elders skip meals and lose sleep!"
by cedars infinally we have the society's expectations of elders in print.. this is from page 9 of the may 15th study edition.... "as indicated by the experiences of the apostle paul, our ministry may result in sleepless nights and times without food.
(2 cor.
6:5) these expressions paint a vivid picture of self-sacrifice and may well remind us of pioneers who give their ministry first place in life while supporting themselves financially.

I know of many elders who bent over backwards to help those in the cong in need. When I was an elder most of the body really cared about the flock. But I agree with brokethechains remarks. There was one elder, who was not the coordinator, who was the most vocal, arrogant, bossy elder in the body. He thought he was the boss and expressed it. Though he cared for the flock and helped them, the flock did not know that he was a pain in the rear for the boe.
