Read the internet news regularly. Read the interesting posts on this forum. I don't know why, but I also still read the WT publications.

Of what I have noticed in the past, that these special talks do not bring in any new ones. The Memorial talk though is different.

If I could go back to 1974
by Quarterback ini was very young back then, and can remember telling everyone at school, family, and all my worldly friends that the world would end in just another year.
now after reading the latest july wt, and reviewing all the updates, i can't help but wonder what effect i would have if i told members of my faith that armeggeddon, wouldn't come that year.
the fds has two appointments, 1st in 1919, and then 2nd after the gt.

If only I knew of these future developments back then. I would have pursued my colledge education and got a better job. I would probably not have wasted my time as a jw in the cong and field service. My life would have definitely been different.

Has anyone else observed how the elderly JWs are neglected?
by Joepublisher1 ini know there are exceptions to this (by good-hearted jws), but has anyone else noticed how some jws (even those who are pios, elders, etc.
) neglect the needs of their elderly parents?
(what i have seen is some jws hiding behind the fact that they are very busy in spiritual matters, too busy, to help their elderly parents with chores around their house, yet they find plenty of time for their own selfish pursuits.

I have noticed that the elderly sisters will care for fellow sisters, such as picking them up for the meetings. But all the other jws ignore the elderly ones. If a jw is bedridden, then even fewer jws will visit them.

Russia is moving a couple of warships into the area. Russia, China, and the UN Secretary frown on the U.S. taking action on their own. Even Britain is smart enough to stay out.

How Many Enjoy Celebrating Holidays? Birthdays?
by minimus ini admit that i do enjoy it, especially with my grandkids.
birthdays, too.. i believe we missed out on a lot of fun and normal activities because we were witnesses..

Holidays are fun. I use to work on those days because all the "worldly" people wanted off and when I was a jw I did not need to be off. Now it is fun to enjoy those days off of work with relatives and work mates.

Am I wasting my time?
by mrhhome ini am the husband of an ex-jw.
she left when she was 18, because she was dating a non-jw.
they got married, and he began openly cheating on her.

You are wasting your time trying to convince them that shunning is an unloving thing. It was very good on your part to support your wife like you did. Continue to support her, the jws will not.

New Flock Book - Child Abusers NOT excluded from serving again
by allelsefails in"shepherd the flock" book - page 38 - chapter 3 par.20 ........ (talking about disqualifying servants and elders) 20. if the sin occurred before he was appointed as an elder or a ministerial servant, the elders will need to take into consideration the fact that he should have mentioned this possible impediment to his being qualified when elders interviewed him just prior to announcing his appointment.
moreover, the nature of the sin may reflect greatly on his qualifications to serve.
for example, the sin may involve past child abuse, and this would likely disqualify him for many years.-w97 1/1 pp.

After a young sister, 23, died from a debilitating disease, her parents accused a brother, 24, of being a pedophile at 16 years of age with that young sister, then 15. The parents never brought this subject up when their daughter was alive. The BOE after discussing the qualifications of this brother, never appointed him because of this accusation. The brother is now married and has 4 children. Should he be prevented from being a servant the rest of his life? I don't know.

Blondie, glad to hear that you are improving. You have certainly provided a blessed service in providing these WT weekly reviews. I always enjoy reading your insightful comments. They are better than what the GB provides. Thanks for your hard work in our behalf. You have been sorely missed and hope you fully recover soon.
