It's Amazing!

it's amazing to me how many of the exjws no longer believe in god.

i know some of you have many reasons to believe in what you do now.

but this is a big testimony to what the wts does to people's concept of god.

I'm of the opinion that religion and the belief in god/s was the easiest solution for mankind to answer the questions that has always haunted us. Where do we come from? What happens when we die? And the myriads of other questions related to the human condition. It's our nature to question and was totally unavoidable considering our uniqueness on the planet. The reason I believe many eventually leave their religions and even turn away from the belief in an almighty god/s after being fervent believers is simply a matter of lack of answers to even the simplest of questions. This is the one that did it for me, "Do's god exist?" One would think that if he/she/it actually exists and it was important to actually know this it would be known and unquestionable. Let's face facts it could have been easily hardwired into our brain. If your a man do ask yourself "am I a man?" If your a woman do you need to ask the question? Why do we need to question if god exists? If an almighty exists logic tells me that he/she/it would want this fact to be known, not debated. I won't delve into the other questions that mankind has pondered as we could spend multiple lifetimes discussing them.

If god doesn't exist mankind has the moral obligation to shed itself of it's primeval believes if we are to expand and improve as a species.

As long as as I can get HARD (even with a blue pill) it's all good. When it stops working I know my desire to live will slowly fade from that point on.

i have to wonder why there has been no major new reporting source that has taken it upon themselves to do a big expose' on the borg?

i know that there have been some great things on pedophelia and blood transfusions but what about a one hour special on all the problems this destructive sect has caused in millions of peoples lives all over the earth?.

am i missing something.. thanks.

Why I can see no reason to believe in Christianity

those of us on this board, who live in the united states, know this country has a lot of christian history attached to it's founders and current political state of things.

if i look in the yellow pages, under christianity, in the church section and browse the listed selection; i will quickly notice that the large majority of options are christian based in one way or another.

with this said, more then likely you are working with christians, living next door to them or related to them in your life.

Those that profess that Christianity is the cure all and end all for mankind salvation are deluding themselves and the same can be said about every other religion on this planet. Religion has been used as a control mechanism by some very smart humans as a tool to control events and mankind. Governments love religion even though most will not admit this fact. It has kept those that are sheep happy, hoping, wishful etc. all of these little things that control and reduce a large portion of humanity into un ambitious and un questioning drones.

What good was Field Service?

it seems like a massive waste of time.. how many people would successfully convert to the witnesses from field circus?

it was pretty much a waste of time in spanish language the last several years, and yet english language bros would join the spanish congos because they thought it was so much more productive!.

I was a pioneer for 7 years, when I think back it was a complete waste of time spiritually and financially. I would have been a lot better off using my time in more productive way than trying to prove my worth to the so called almighty. Sure I became an MS faster and was well on my way to becoming an elder, but that only used more time, time I could have used to actually contribute something positive to my own life or someone that I knew deserved it.

I pity anyone that wastes their time trying to convince others to join any religious organization. Let god use his own time and effort if it’s so important, which of course we all know he won’t do because he has billions of humans that practice thousands of religions to do the work for him. I will probably never see the day that mankind will break the religious cycle and finally come to it’s senses but I’m convinced that it will happen and when it does it will be a huge step forward in mankind’s intellectual evolution.

but according to his word, it is okay to do it pertaining to his purposes.

Here’s what I would consider a good lie, it’s only my opinion so take it at face value.

If I was asked to lie for someone that made a mistake and they would suffer serious consequences in their life if I told the truth, I wouldn’t hesitate to lie for them.

Example someone that messed up at work, that would lose their job over the issue.

If I had to lie to feed or protect myself or another person I was responsible for I wouldn’t hesitate being untruthful. It’s called survival and I wouldn’t leave that to chance or a god.

My opinion:

Mankind’s understanding of the universe is based solely on it’s very limited experience living in it. Everything we think we know, understand, and what we believe to be true can drastically change at any point in what we call time. The big bang theory is a theory not fact and it’s based on our perception and understanding of the mechanics of the universe as we know it. Humans need to believe everything has a starting point and an end point it’s what we know and understand at the moment. There could be myriads of other possibilities of how the universe started and where it’s going, and it’s very possible that we will never understand or even grasp the truth even if it was right in front of us.

The same can be said about the concept of a god or gods as the source of all things. Many trust in his/her/it’s existence as the only possibility that answers all their questions, hopes, dreams and desires and is considered fact for them. Our imagination and creativity could have been the source that fueled and encouraged mankind to explain the unexplainable through a god. The fact of the matter is no one today can prove the existence of such an entity. If he/she/it exist it’s their choice to make themselves manifest or not. I’m not talking about signs, prophets interpretation of literature etc. That’s already been done to death and has not proved existence

Where does one draw the line on whether the origins of a practice make it acceptable?

ok, am very confused:.

honeymoons and wedding rings, based in paganism, ok for a jw to do.. windchimes, once prohibited due to the intent to ward off evil spirits, ok for a jw to have.. pinatas, once prohibited due to origin, now since folks do not associate the fun with a pinata, ok for a jw to do.. wedding anniversaries, not sure if they are formally addressed in the bible, ok for a jw to do.. birthdays, two bad examples in the bible plus some stories how originally celebrated by the wealthy (choose to ignore job 1 - job 3 when a persons special day is celebrated), not ok for a jw to do (have not been at a birthday party ever where someone was beheaded).

thanksgiving, actually a basis in the old testament for a celebration of the harvest, not ok for jws to do.

And this is a major problem within the organization, depending on the congregation the elders are the ones that often decide on matters of conscience based on their own likes, dislikes, conservative, liberal etc etc etc.
I was of the personal belief that any subject that wasn’t explicitly condemned in the scripture was a matter of opinion or interpretation which can be debated, but that’s as far as it could go. Of course what came from the GB was not open for discussion.
I have heard of many being shunned privately based on the personal standards of the congregation elders or CO which was very unfortunate as many innocent and well meaning persons never moved forward if they stuck to there opinions. Each congregation is molded and very manipulated by the elders or CO that preside over it. I gave a lot of talks in different congregations and could tell what kind of elders ran the place, just by how they dressed, spoke, sincere friendliness, etc. Some of those congregations were so uptight, I would have killed myself if I had to actually spend longer than a few hours their.
I’m glad I left before I ever became an elder, my NOOB (None of our Business) approach would have certainly got me into trouble eventually. LOL

Ex jw wife

i find it interesting that i posted about 16 days ago concerning whether i should write a letter and.

allow my ex wife to be free and marry.. saturday night she called out of the blue ( maybe there is a god upthere looking down) after 3 years of not talking to her and she wants to meets.. we met last night and after small talk about how we are both doing and family stuff, she asked me if i would write a letter.

freeing her or releasing her from our marriage without admitting adultery, since i don't believe in the bible anymore,.

SSPO, unfortunately no matter what you choose to do, you can't control how your daughters will react. If you have good relationship with them, they can by choice continue to have dealings with you as their father, DF'd or not. If they choose to consider you solely by religious standards and not by flesh and blood, then you will have to hope that one day they mature enough to realize the gravity of allowing any organization to dictate to them how they deal with such situations.

If you did nothing to warrant being DF'd why would you admit to anything that would give her the freedom to remarry? It's not being vindictive as someone mentioned, it's being truthful. If she truly loves her god she will accept the consequences of her own beliefs.

If you asked me “Would you make an exception and give her what she wants” Yes, under the following condition, monetary hardship, meaning if I knew she was having a hard time meeting her personal financial obligations, and I knew her getting remarried would be the solution, then I would gladly give her a letter, even if it was a lie. Since your not a practicing JW, you lose nothing at the end of the day. Call it a humanitarian act. You may suffer the unfortunate consequences, but your conscience will be clean.

BTW there’s nothing wrong with writing your daughters stating the facts, and leave it up to them to decide how they want to deal with it. I am assuming they are adults and can handle the truth.
