Imbue, I agree 100%! The WTS, who can write articles in abundance about the need to be humble, repent, and apologize, have never done that which they write about. And by the way, I've never known a body of elders to apologize either.

boomboom car stereos...
by DanTheMan ini live in klumbus ohio, in a neighborhood that ain't da hood but it ain't the 'burbs either.. it seems that if you are a male under 25 in my area and you don't have a 10,000 watt car stereo that shakes the whole neighborhood, well, you're nothing.. i don't get hip-hop culture.
i think that it is a screaming commentary on the cultural rot in the usa.. could someone comfort me or help explain the appeal of this pervasive sub-culture?
the depravity of it all makes me feel so hopeless sometimes.. maybe i'm a little too narrowly caucasian in my outlook.

ve9, you made some excellent points, but in actuality, from what I have read, it is the sound level, measured in decibels (db) which is used as a guide to determine how loud sounds are and how they can affect hearing. Though midrange and high frequencies can sound much more 'ear-splitting' than those boomy lows associated with powered subwoofers, the actual db level produced by a sub can cause hearing damage as well under certain conditions. For example, in an article about hearing in Sound and Vision magazine, an account was related in which two guys were setting up a subwoofer, and one guy was close while the other guy accidently cranked up the sound of the 1812 Overture's cannon blasts. The guy near the sub experienced pain that could be the precursor to hearing damage. Granted, these were cannon blasts and not ordinary music, but nonethless a subwoofer produces low frequencies and damage can result if the sound is too loud.

Dakota, you made an excellent point.....hearing damage will be an inevitable by-product of such a habit.
I can see, as most of us likely can, having a good-sounding car stereo system that might even have a little kick to it, but what I hear emanating from some cars is absolutely unreal.

My wife and I have had some discussions about Paul's view of women, as well as the description of the "capable wife" at Proverbs 31, which she calls a 'job description' and she notes that the husband in that chapter sat at the gate all day while his poor wife did all the work. She has always felt also that Paul was putting women down in general. I find it easy to agree, though when I was an elder, I used to get somewhat defensive. In fact, one time, and I very much regret this - I told he that if she didn't like it, she should join the NOW. Just goes to show how my thinking was affected while I was deep inside the Borg.

by jack2 inrecord producer gus dudgeon and his wife sheila died in a car accident on july 21.. gus was the producer on elton john's highly successful 1970s albums, including a run of seven consecutive u.s. number one albums.
he also produced some of john's 1980s work, including the album live in australia, with the 88-piece melbourne symphony orchestra.. gus also worked with the rolling stones, david bowie, xtc, and marriane faithful, among others.. gus's work with elton john was marked by a clean, wide-open sound that i personally found to be very involving.

A Quartet Of Questions For You Know...
by hillary_step ingiven your reaction to mr. andersons letter of resignation recently posted to this board, which seemed sympathetic, i would like to ask four questions of you, which of course you are at liberty not to answer.
1 ) how do you personally feel about the fact that the wts is now moving to disfellowship mr. anderson for writing that letter?.
2) if mr. anderson were to begin posting to this board, how would you view him?.
