My father-in-law was killed by a drunk driver, so obviously, my wife and I are very sensitive to this issue. I'm glad to see people posting on this thread are speaking very strongly against drunk driving.

Stupid drunk drivers......
by Jesus Christ inmy house is at the end of a fairly busy street that dead ends in our front yard and then takes up again a few houses down.
i was trying to set up some email stuff for a client tonight around 10:30 when i heard some police sirens.
i stood up and looked out my window to see a pair of headlights quickly coming towards my house with the police behind them.

My grandma
by Vivamus inmy grandma was a remarkable woman, with a sense of humour that could crack me up.
and she had the determination to make everything she started a success.
she never gave up, and fought for everything she hold dear.

Your grandma's strength and grace, and your strength and grace, through all of this has been remarkable. I am very sorry to hear about her passing. What you have written about her and your family is very touching.

Whatever We Say, Just Listen & Don't Question
by minimus inin nearly every publication lately, the overpowering message to the faithful is to just listen to god's organization.
when circuit overseers give their talks, the theme is just listen to what we say.
every study article contains the same not so subtle message : you better listen because if you don't you're weak or complaining or worse yet, an apostate.the mind control is so obvious!

COMF, you may have a point...sometimes, I do think that the constant pounding actually backfires to some degree.

It takes to much effort to hate
by kenpodragon inin my life i have learned that in order to truly hate someone or even to hate something.
i have to spend so much time carrying around all the files of memories that give me the reason to fill that way.
i have to think about the person, the thing or the place.

Good post Kenpo, and I agree with shera too - for our own sake, it's best not to hold on to resentment, hate, and such negative felings if at all possible.

Fish could be hazardous to your health...
by MegaDude infrom the article.
"tuna is the most consumed fish in the country," bender says.
"if you're a pregnant woman and you eat over two cans of tuna per week, you can go over" safe levels of mercury.

It's a shame, really. We're told "don't eat red meat, eat fish instead", then we have to worry about this stuff.

Gil, Harmony is doing fine. Currently, she is devoting more time to reading and some other activities that support her interest in reading.
She did move back to Minnesota and she is happy about the move back.
Thanks for asking about her. Thanks also riz.

such as a being a cop, for having a gun.
couldn't be a martial arts instructor.. maybe it was a well paying career.. did you have a job that was not approved of?

Link, in that case, "most people" were certainly right. That's certainly a case of a "suggestion" gone bust.

My First Rock Concert....
by TheSurvivor innow in my 40's i went to my first and most probably last rock concert last night.
i took the wife and kids (if you can still call them that with the youngest taller than me) to see the "motor city madman....ted nugent.
i guess that i am just not the rock and roll type.

I've never seen Nugent, but I have been at a few concerts in my day; I started going in 1976; my most recent was in early October. After several concerts and a good number of years of listening to my music a bit too loudly at home, I now wear earplugs when I attend a concert.
