lol moe,
dink, masturbation is not grounds for df'ing.
the wts states that 'putting seed on the ground' is not a reference to mastubation, but rather to brother-in-law marriage.
as for your question about jesus....I'll leave that to someone else.
okay, i'm not trying to start a fight - really!
but i've had this strange question/opinion and wanted to put it out for discussion.. we know how the wt says masturbation is wrong - which i believe is a load of "crud.
" i mean, everybody does it - it's perfectly natural, normal, human, and necessary (especially for men, crucial to being in a decent mood).. so, if jesus was a perfect human, do you all suppose he did?

do you think it's possible to fall in love with someone online?
assuming they give you a real picture of themselves and are honest about themselves.. is it possible to love this person before you meet them?
i'm not talking about the kind of love you share with your friends, i'm talking the real deal.
Good one Naeblis! Beck, you too!
One thing about online love is that I guess it's kind of like falling for someone from the 'inside out' instead of the 'outside in' as it were. The physical attraction factor takes a back seat (at least intially.....unless there are some really good pics exchanged!) which sometimes means, as some posters here have already mentioned, that you can really get to know the person first without being unduly influenced by looks.
I do know of one married couple (jw) that met online. I'm not sure if they signed for some jw dating thing or not.
I also have read some stuff about such romances, and, like any others, some manage to blossom, some don't.
i know, i know, the jws love to boast about ``honoring jehovah'' and having ``restored the divine name to its rightful place.
'' but my question is: is such casual off-hand use of the divine name really respectful?
i mean, the vast majority of us well know the names of our parents; but just how respectful would it be to go around referring to them as ``harry'' and ``alice?".
215, this is something I've noticed too, for a long time. The jws really, in my view, totally overuse the name. Some of them invoke it so often that it gets ridiculous. It's exactly as you said, Jehovah this, Jehovah that. I have always felt that, since something more rare is considered more precious, it would be good for them to tone it down drastically. After all, in the Gospels, Jesus is not recorded as saying it unless he was quoting from the Hebrew Scriptures. Perhaps he did use it at other times, but I think it's noteworthy that he used "my Father" a lot more. And, Jehovah is our Father too, so why not use his name less, thus making it more sacred........

I had the "privilage" of being cleaning captain for my congregation at several conventions in an outdoor stadium.
After a long, long day, we were too tired to do a very thorough job. Superficial cleaning was all we really did or were capable of by that time of the day. And yes, if people would simply have picked up after themselves and brought along some wipes or towels for their own spills, we could all have gone home a little sooner.
I had always kid of felt that, by doing the cleaning, we were kind of 'kissing up' to the stadium and city in order to get cheaper rates, and of course, there was always that bragging going on, 'oh, look how clean we are'. Also, cleaning captian is a "privilage" that NO ONE wanted.... we never had one elder volunteer, it was always the poor MS's or some other brother who couldn't say no to the elders. And when I was captian, I was always stiffed by most of the people in my Hall who had me put their name on my list for helpers, they just plain stiffed me by not showing up. One year, it was my wife, myself, child, one sister and her bible study that did the entire assignment. Ahhhhh...the memories!
what song do you put on when you're sad?
is there a certain song that never fails to tear you up and why?.
what do you listen to when you're in a good mood?
tera!
lol@stinkypants w Kingdom Melodies!
Since I'm a big fan of Elton John's music and Bernie Taupin's lyrics, and I have been listening to his stuff since I was a teenager, there seems to be an Elton song for almost every emotion I feel; after all, the guy's been producing music for over 33 yrs, lol. In fact, there's so many songs that come to mind, I don't even know where to start.
I did post lyrics to a song of his called Since God Invented Girls on the 'Vincent Goes Underground' thread. I think of it when I admire God's most beautiful creation - women! The chorus goes:
Now I know what Brian Wilson meant / Everytime I step outsideI see what heaven sent / There may be seven wonders created for this world / But one is all we need since God invented girls
When I'm in a rebellious mood, I like cranking a live version of The Bitch Is Back and singing along....when my wife was in her fanatical mode some years back, she did not want me playing or singing the song. I did it anyway, LOL. Now she sees things my way, lol. I also like the rebellious lyrics of Bennie And The Jets, such as....."we're gonna fight our parent's out in the street to find who's right and who's wrong."
When I am sad or contemplative, there's Rocket Man or Blue Avenue, and Your Song for someone special.
Of course, there are songs by other artists that also strike a powerful cord with me.
Good post tera!
oh man....check this out.. my brother, an active jw, whom i am very close too, called me sometime last year to tell me about the un issue.
i never cared to talk about religion .... most of my family is in and i'm not.
so i boringly reply,'oh yeah'..not really listening.
Way to be tera! Funny remark about her kids, lol! And yes, you have nothing to hide, so I'm glad you're keeping your username.
ok before we get off on the wrong foot this is not a flame war.
i read a comment by belbab on hillary's post this morning...he remarked that he had asked a question after the 09/11 attack, that no one answered.
well, i didn't even remember reading it, so i did a simple search.
There are so many posts to read, and I have only so much time to devote to reading them, that i must use some type of 'filter' system, as it were. Do I ignore any posters? I don't think I do, certainly not intentionally. Do I gravitate toward posts by certain posters? Yes, simply because I may know them better and they usually do post interesting topics. That, plus the subject title, are what help me to decide which topics I can view in the limited time I have to devote to reading them.
Interesting post, LDH of the soap box class! :)

Hi tera ,
I'm sorry to hear about this, but as outnfree and dakota indicate, this could actually turn out to be something that your brother in law may be curious about; maybe indeed he decided to see what others had to say about the jw religion.
I am going to read more of the suggestions from other posters as they reply to your thread, I'll give this some serious thought, and then reply again either on this thread or via e-mail. Please be assured of my concern and support! All my best, jack
some observations on the recent naeblis vs. minefield fight:.
it was a pretty good show.
punches were exchanged.
Hi tera! :):),
Glad you liked the parallel, hehhehe. You're right about the ear-biting, I could just picture Naeb chomping down. Tyson also tried to break a guy's arm once too, and we can't forget his remark that "it was the best punch I ever threw" after he hit Robin Givens, his ex. What a guy.
Lewis really took him to school. Some people are saying that Tyson lacked fire becasue he was being medicated, due to the chance of his losing $3 million of his purse if he should cause the fight to end on a DQ, like biting again, lol. But to me, Tyson lack of great skills had been exposed long ago, when Buster Douglass beat him badly in Japan.
And yes, there was a certain satisfaction in seeing him get beat. I remember when Douglass beat him, and it was good to see that thug persona beaten back. The guy comes across like a thug, and thugs need a good whipping every now and then to keep them in line, lol.
Take care tera!!

Well, I goofed...it's Mindfield, not Minefield (I guess the explosive nature of the confrontation led me to my keyboardian faux pas....jeez, I looked at his name like 20 times before I typed it too)).
Prisc, I'm glad you saw the over-the-top, tongue-placed-firmly-in-cheek nature of my post. I was a bit concerned that my post could be misunderstood, and I am hoping that Naeb and Mind will not be upset with me. If they start beating on me Prisc, I'll be needing you in my corner!
