Yes when one thinks about it, a very strange term for a preacher, never thought much about it b4.
Goes to show the power of their mind control technique
witnesses use the term 'publisher' instead of 'preacher' to describe their position in the congregation.
that should be a dead give away that they are salespeople working for a book publishing company verses preachers who are working for god.
i can't believe i never saw something this obvious.

and, while we're at it, what did you feel was the best technique/were the best techniques for 'awakening' jws to the problems/threats within the wtbts??.
i was initially awakened by the realization that the bible writers had no clue about how the earth really worked - which meant that their god had no clue, either.
when exodus 19: 16-19 was read in the kh, i realized (as a young child, 7 or 8 if i remember correctly...) that those bible verses were describing a volcanic eruption - and the isra-el-ites - and their 'god' - were totally clueless as to the true nature of that eruption and mountain.... that was my first eye-opener... then there was the fellow - a householder - who said to me when i was a cute kid at the door helping 'spread the word', "those people are using you!".
None i am aware of, but I do my best to stop uotsiders from becoming interested.
i believe many congregations had one, if not 90 % of the congregations i attended.
there seemed to always be one elder that dominated over the other elders and incredibly - in spite of the arrangement being called a " body of elders " many times it seemed that one elder would arise and take control over the other elders.
the other elders would roll over and bow essentially to these power elders.
In the cong i have been most of them were a pain in the ars but i really can't say any were that controlling but then again I might have been blind to it as I didn't really care.
many people in the jehovah's witnesses , older ones, younger ones have been expected to pioneer, go in field service with physical disabilities and are even considered "martyrs" if they push themselves to their physical capacities beyond reasonableness .
thus many witnesses feel sick, exhausted, tired, and essentially fight depression due to high expectations to " burn out " for the wt society.
have any of you experienced this while in the witnesses ?.
Obviously that dumbars sister had never experienced a full bn migrane, wat a bitch

Sorry guys I never felt guilty about staying away when sick injured or otherwise, in fact once when I had an ingrown toe nail i deliberatly stood on it hard to make it hurt really bad just to stay away from the sunday meeting.
When I was 24 (1983) and had been married for 4 months I was diagnosed with non hodgkins lymphoma, I was in the hospital at the time, from that point on until I finished radiotherapy about 2 months I didn't attend any meetings, didn't feel any guilt wat so ever.
When I did go back my first meeting was a circuit assembly, I was 4 stone lighter down from 12 to 8, & not very energitic. All my clothes were way to big & the only ones that did fit were for lazing around home so I wore those, god the looks I got, not bcoz I was sick but bcoz of my casual attire, only one sister that I knew came up to me & guinuinely spoke to me, others it was like "what's the freak doing here".
It was at this stage of my life I realised that I did not have any real friends amongst the JWs.
anita called me the other day and told me i would never believe who brought her brother's mail.
it is a lady who was in my old congregation.
her and her husband were good folks.
Fantastic
i was told they were practically begging those elders and servants who are no longer "being used" to help carry the load once again.
these people are unbelievable!.
Mary
I like it.
Can't see it happening tho, Eve sinned b4 Adam, so you ladies still have2 suffer 4it.
What a load of crap.
What happened to best person for the job.
Welcome aboard, recent new commer myself, about 4 months, found this site & joined up the following day. It's answered so many questions i had in my head, & now I can say I'm never never never going back. I will only set foot in a KH again for a funerial or wedding.
in the end years i would.
after the public talk and after the tms.
in fact there would often be a mass exdous out of the door.
often as I could, in the end every sunday if i went at all
