to change beliefs, skeptics must address the brains survival issues of meanings and implications in addition to discussing their data.. because a basic tenet of both skeptical thinking and scientific inquiry is that beliefs can be wrong, it is often confusing and irritating to scientists and skeptics that so many peoples beliefs do not change in the face of disconfirming evidence.

how, we wonder, are people able to hold beliefs that contradict the data?.

so i've got a huge pile of magazines that i took from the literature desk but never got round to going out in field circus to place them.

oops!

i'm wondering if i could put them to better use.. this could be helpful for any of you faders who have annoying jw relatives who insist on bringing the latest rags round every month, or those of you still in who want to do the public a favour by removing them from the hall and not placing them.

my computer-support service has checked my computer because it's been rather "glitchy" lately, and the hard drive is failing.... so, i'll end up being cut-off from the board, for a while.... some of you have my personal phone number, if you need to get in touch.... **********************************************************************.

here's something else that's been bothering me.... we're going to fly out to see the in-laws soon - and i'm very uneasy about flying.... if something should happen to me, could you people please help find good homes for my animals???

they are all indoors animals, have been spayed/neutered, and are pretty good with dogs.... there are six cats - the seventh one, minx, will have to be "put down", as she is slowly dying of feline leukemia, and is far too "high-maintenance" for anyone else to care for.... but there's chomper - a neutered male, six-toed cat, somewhat feral but ferociously loyal to anyone who will be patient with him - and feed him wet food... he's a big, short-haired grey-and-black tabby... unfortunately, in the process of the hard-drive decay, my computer no longer recognizes my crappy printer, and so i can't load a pix of chomper... but he's a big cutie!!.

Where are you? country wise, I'm in Australia.

2 years ago, due to personal problems, I thought about going back to what I now think of as the borg, this was for about 30 minutes, when I thought why? I did a google for Jehovahs Witnesses, & the first on list was this site, so I came here & had my eyes opened WOW.

Previously I had been out for the last 10+ years, but I always thought if there was a true religion it was the JWs, now I know that we were just serving a corporate body with no truth at all.

i was thinking it's a good time to be alive .

.. living on this planet has always had it's dangers.

there seems to be a lot of coming and going.. when i look back over the years now, i feel good about some things.

sure is, especially now, 100-200 yrs ago we would most likely be dead by now at our age

what would I do with out my mobile phone, tablet, laptop, pc, mp3 player, digital camera/video camera the list goes on & on,

the near future (watched a doco on it this week) promises us replication technology, just like star trek LOL, I hope I live to see that, meaning poverty would no longer excist,
