in the middle of the 18th century in america, a crisis of faith arose.. traditional belief about the destiny of christians in the new world had been tested and proved false.

instead of spreading a pure and just society across north america which the whole world would see and hold in great esteem, everything was chaos, controversy and opposition!.

puritans, congregationalists, baptist, catholics hated each other even though christ was the center of their very worship!!.

Another encounter with JW at my door this morning.

i posted an encounter with a elder a few months ago.. we had a lengthy conversation.

he knew i was once.

a elder, served where the need was great , etc.

I had them here during the week, apparantly I was down as a do not call, and they wanted to know if it was ok to call again, anyway they asked why i left & was it bcoz i had problems with other members, my reply was no it was on doctrine etc, like false prophecy re Jesus' return in 1870s bigA coming in 1914, 15, 18, 24 & 75 and so on, their reply was those things were never said, anyways they couldn't get out quick enough, so now I'm most likely back on the do not call list. Mixed feelings about that I do like to converse with them at the door, but some times they really piss me off

but never fear, because--also according to the wtbts--jehovah will take that into account at armageddon.

the wt says so, so it must be true!

Just had jdubs at my door, must have been an elder, as he asked if it's "alright to start calling again?"

I replied "I have never said jdubs weren't allowed to call, but things may end in an arguement"

so I had been put on the do not call list

So any way I explained I am an exjdub,

he asks "why did you leave? were you put off by one of the members?"

I replied "no, it's mainly doctrine"

he asked "what doctrine?"

me "lots, to begin with, Jesus' return in 1873 & Armageddon predicted arrival in 1914, didn't come then predicted 1915, 1918, 1924, 1975"

he "we have never said that" as he starts to walk away

me " go & check your publications, especially the older ones, your KH will have them"

& they both march off, couldn't get out quick enough LOL

i'm on page 90 right now...the info is definitely new and gives me a totally diff view as to how i used to think of faithful and discreet slave.

i was thoroughly disgusted with the way the brothers handled the oral sex and leadership problem and the insight on the scriptures book...... still have alot of questions though.

i was just reading on another thread--and came across the idea that the wt soc is dying.

oh--i wish--but lets be realistic--not very likely.. .

then the thought occurrs--if the wt soc did collapse--died--just became part of history----.

Which generation do you belong to ?

ask a witness which generation do you belong to and see if they really know how to answer.. i have decided that every time i hear a true definition of the meaning of a generation i will post it here just to reinforce the true meaning just in case a stray jw happens to look in on here.. yesterday evening i was watching an antiques programme on the television and under discussion was a very well made baby high chair from about the nineteen thirties and the approximate date of manufacture and the length of time it had been in the family.

the expert then went on to confim how old it was and in doing so said that considering who first purchased the chair and the length of a generation that it was from the thirties and went on to say that we consider a generation to be about 25 years.. that is a truer definition of a generation than a watchtower definition.. .

Is there one Bible Prophecy.....

in the form of a prediction, that can be proven to truly be a prediction,i.e written before the event, and it came true ?.

it would be good not to have time wasters on this thread in the form of the common ones that are brought up to demonstrate the bible's prophetic prowess, like cyrus being named , these have been debunked already.. but does there seem to be a genuine prophecy in there somewhere ?.
