I guess the preaching work can't be too fulfilling for you; otherwise, why would you be on here chatting with us failed JW? Don't you have some poor householder to harass save?

I know I'm so silly for posting this, but why does the Super Mario Brothers music always go through my head when...
by Joliette in...i think about how much 'time' the society has left before all of its dirty little secrets are gonna catch up with them .

"Super Mario would be a GREAT sound track to work to out in service. From this point forward, when I see them two-by-two marching door-to-door, I will imagine that music!"
LOL! Also, you can imagine some of the scenarios they face just like the game. Dodging flying bullets (conversation stoppers), busting up brick walls of resistance (slamming doors of householders telling them to not come back) jumping over hurdles (work, family life, FS, meetings, study. What is one to do?) jumping on the head of their enemies (ARMAGGEDON). When you think of it, it really is the perfect game to coincide with the JW life. lol

WT's Grip on Real Truth
by leavingwt in.
.
i saw the image below on reddit this morning, and it reminded me of how wt doesn't have a grip, at all, on any real truth.

What would you hate about the Paradise...
by Butterflyleia85 inwell i was thinking... kinda random stuff this morning.
there was on the news of volcano eruption in brussel and it was so cool looking.
no injuries were found but i got to see the lava and thinking how beautiful it was.

Personally, I can't speak out against something I have yet to experience. Not sure if I truly want the JW brand of paradise, but I would love to be in some form or another of a paradise.

Do Ex-JWs have reason to be disgruntled?
by sabastious ineverytime i have ever told an active jw about this forum and described it's designation they all, in essence, say the same thing.. they say that we are nitpickers, that we are all just rubbed the wrong way and can't get out of the state of disgruntlement that we have allowed ourselves to enter.
some throw in supernatural elements some just stick to human imperfection and call it murmurings.. these kind of assertions highly imply that our anger is exaggerated or misguided; that we don't have all facts and are drawing highly speculative conclusions.. as participants on this forum how do you refute such a claim?.
my first thought would be to point out that "murmurings" is what created the watchtower to start with.

Gayle hit it on the head. Who better than an ex-member can expose the truth about their former religion based on their experience? And if I am presenting credible evidence to support my view, how is that being disgruntled? JWs do it all the time against other faiths, so they should be able to stand up to some scrutiny of their own; that is if they have that so-called truth.
As far as if I as an ex-JW have a reason to be disgruntled, no because I am not disgruntled. I am disappointed that I invested a significant amount of time and energy into this religion just to find it was all a lie, but far from disgruntled. Nor will I allow a J-dub to label me as such. As far as I am concerned, I am living my life like it's golden.

Do you miss "dressing up" for the meetings?
by dozy ini was thinking about this the other day when doing a bit of tidying up of my wardrobe.
all the kh suits are now pushed to the back of the wardrobe and i am seriously thinking about a visit to the charity shop to get rid of most of them.. for me one of the (few) enjoyable aspects of being a jw was getting dressed up.
my secular work very rarely involves putting on a dress suit & tie so i miss getting dressed up - smart suit , tie , shiny shoes , slapping on the aftershave.

Funny thing, being at the hall helped shaped my sense of fashion in dressing up. I was 19 when I was introduced to the JW and was a bit of a tomboy (only girl of 5 brothers). If I did wear a skirt or a dress, it wasn't up to par with JW standards of dress (ultra short mini skirts and form fitting dresses with splits ). After a while, I was able find my niche in being fashionably, yet conservatively dressed.
I still enjoy dressing up every now and then, but mainly do it if the occasion calls for it.

Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inyou'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).
let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs, doctrines and practices of the wts!.
i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks, prayers, ministry school demonstrations, field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies, special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

Boredom was the true culprit behind my leaving. Though I did stumble upon some revealing facts about the religion, in the end, I too grew tired of the repetitive nature of the meetings. No noolite or any worthwhile light for that matter was there. Got so that you pretty much knew what was going to be discussed.
The only new thing probably was when Elder Dipsh*t did a local needs part in the form of indirectly airing dirty laundry of a R & F member.

Two Parallel Accounts
by snowbird inmatthew 24:45 -47"who here qualifies for the job of overseeing the kitchen?
a person the master can depend on to feed the workers on time each day.
someone the master can drop in on unannounced and always find him doing his job.

Gullibility is the only word that comes to mind on this one. That is exactly what I can say for myself as a convert.

Arrangement
by Yan Bibiyan inarrangement is probably one of the most misapplied words in the wt lingo.
its frequency of appearance in the watchtower alone is 180 times greater than the bible itself (from 2008 wt cd - arrangement is used 2333 times in the watchtower publication vs. only 13 times in the bible).. when speaking of an arrangement, one is conditioned to expect a conscious effort aimed for betterment.. in a musical arrangement for example, musicians put an effort to sequence, harmonize and combine musical instruments into a composition of sounds that best conveys the composers ideas and creative force.
in a flower arrangement, the florist uses individual flowers to put together a visually pleasing bouquet.

"Sugarcoating does not change the underlying act; it makes it appear worse because of the added level of insincerity."
So very true. Example: a disfellowshipped person who is suffering great loss to themselves is expected to have the view that disfellowshipping is a "loving arrangement" from Jehovah. So their suffering is to be comforted by the fact that Jehovah is loving them by means of this discipline. How sick is that?

Some observations from the KM Elder School I wanted to share with you.
by miseryloveselders inmy school was a couple weeks back, and it was interesting to a degree.
to be honest with you, it reminded me of a police crime scene investigation with yellow tape.
what i mean is, in one respect it was business as usual.
