well this time last year i was waiting for my first semester at college to start.
i had no idea how i would do in my classes.
my first semester was a complete surprise for me because not only did i do it, but, i did it well ending up on the dean's list with a 3.57 gpa for the semester.

I am with you on the education department myself. I am trying to get my undergrad degree before or by 40 and my Master's before 45. I also know all too well about having sucky online professors who act like they don't want to be involved in teaching. My Sociology class was like that, but I stayed the course and passed. Kind of hitting a bit of a plateau, but I am going to keep pushing forward. Thanks for your encouraging post!
how did it turn out?.
I was involved in one as "sinner". Was publicly reproved. Found it interesting considering I didn't show much of a remorseful attitude during it and wasn't too concerned which way it went. I was also fairly new and they knew that if they were to DF me, I would never come back. That's when I knew that "holy spirit" wasn't directing these JCs.

its been a while since i have started a topic so here it goes..... when i joined the org i came in knowing that i would never go to the elders for advice or to confess any wrong doings.
Hindsight is 20/20. Looking back, I should have adopted ur view. But when you wanted to be a "faithful obedient sheep" you did what was always drummed into you from the meetings to report concerns and sins to an elder so that you can receive the "spiritual help" to readjust your thinking. At least, that's how I saw it at the time. Now, I do not have to worry myself over it as I do not have any kind of communication with any of the elders to care.

i have a very close jw friend who i have known for a number of years.
she was like the big sister i never had, always looking out for me and was very helpful during my challenging moments.
we both came into the religion around the same time and both of us were pretty much fringe dubs, just making the bare minimum to be considered jw in good standing.
outsmartthesystem: I have Captive of a Concept and plan to read soon. Thanks for the suggestions. I won't bombard her and I won't suggest an "apostate" read to her until she is truly ready to know the truth. So far, I don't see that happening no time soon.
DesirousofChange: She usually initiates the texts. I know not to incriminate myself that way and most times will just respond with short statements or not reply.
Blacksheep: Thanks for your advice. That's what I really want to work on: being able to control the conversation and maneuver any attempts from her or any JW I encounter when they try to throw their guilt-induced spiel at you.

if there are 60,000+ registered users on here, what percentage are actual non-dfed or non-daed witnesses?
if it was 1/3, that would be over 20,000 active/inactive witnesses that post and read these pages- and that's huge.

Thanks for your comment, AKJeff. You are right. Either direction I take on this matter will affect the the outcome of the relationship that it will not remain the same and seeing that we really are two worlds apart, it will eventually fizzle out.
Thank you for the suggestions. While she is still making conversation with me, I will be more attentive to the things she say and see how I can engage her outside of JWism.
