My JW parents met my wife, but would not see me...

so it was time for the 25 year reunion of tawas area high school's class of '84.

because i was class president, i've been responsible for throwing all the reunions we've held.

while i come to michigan on business a few times per year, i don't usually make it all the way up to the little, northeast, lake huron tourist town where they live.

You are very kind and so is your wife. Its ashame your parents have let men dictate what they can and can't do. What has happened to natural affection between parents and children? What about uncondictional love? Hope everything good to come your way. Maybe one day they can wake up. Lets make sure that we are never like that.

even though i didnt have the title of elder, i was still active in my work at bethel and the congregation used me as much as possible.

when the congregation recommended that i once again serve as an elder, one elder raised the objection that that barbara was a low-hour publisher.

as a jehovah's witness, that's the question that was always raised.

jws love to gossip.

they love to know what goes on in the business of another witness or family.

I've been in the troof for 48years(born in it) and I can't believe how much they gossip. In the "world" people are not intersted in gossip, just talking about everyday things and not being afaid to tell it like it is. My sister-in-law, who would tell everyone how her father is of the annointed, is the biggest gossiper and sh-t stirrer I have ever known. I'm glad I don't associate with these pathetic people........

and how come they even joined in the first place?

I'm just back on (I'm in Australia, just woke up). It certainly helps to talk about it, I don't know if it makes me feel better. I have stopped going for 3 years now and have recently re-married someone I've known for years (a non practicing jw). But she got ds 'cause of alot of pressure and now our families won't talk to us. Its alot of pressure, so she is going to get renistated to please everyone and then just drift away.

Thanks to everyone for your replies, they are helpful. The sites that were sent helped. I can't believe not alot of jw's know about this and I guess no-one will be able to tell them as it would be wrong to speak against them.

Off to a JW "Gathering"

i have not been to a meeting this year.

yet i was invited to a witness "gathering" through my wife and kids.. i really don't want to go.. however, if my reason for not going is because of someones religion, i am really no different than they are.. guess i need to go based on principal.. i won't change my mind, but am interested in your take on this situation.. .

Thanks for posting the hearing and I'm looking forward to the rest of the audio. We get so dissappointed by the way things are handled and the hypocrisy. Thanks for keeping us to date, it helps with everything we go through.
