first off i'd like to say hello to everyone on this forum, especially those who clicked on my topic.. i was baptized on sept 9, 2000 when i was 15. looking back i only did it because i had been studying with the same brother for 2 years and it seemed like the next logical step.i have 3 half siblings who at one point were all going to the meetings but were never baptized.
none are in any way affiliated with any congregation at all and live a long way from myself and my mom.. my mother and i are the only ones in my family who have been baptized and as of dec. 2008 i moved into my own place because things were just too tense between us.
i figured it would be beneficial for our stress levels if i moved out.. when i became inactive my mom kept asking why.
Hi dudeson, I'm still amazed at this site. People we don't really know and yet offering sound adive and not for any gain. When we were in the truth, we were led to believe there is only them that love us, but in reality Jah has given us all the ability to love without question and to help when we can. This site helps me deal with alot. Thank you all and hope it goes well with you dudeson.

my first question is just for the atheist.
why do you guys spend so much time discussing and researching a book you believe to be fiction?
I think being on this site is an outlet for us and we can be truthful. I agree with "alltimejeff" and "passwordprotected" that it takes more courage to stand up for what you find out to be true than just going along with the rest.
i know this has been re-hashed many times here.
in great detail with quotes from former watchtower articles, etc.
i'm going to cut to the chase and just make this brief and direct.
I think Trevor Scott made such a good point that the WTS made out that Jah is a liar, when really they are the ones that made all the propechies without his backing.

I remember being scared to go to school just in case armageddon was going to come while I was there. Now I have grandkids too(by the way Lisa you have beautiful grandkids). Now all my kids are JWs and I want them to know what the TRUTH is. I'm glad your daughter is on the same wave length you are.
i am fairly new on here.
i grew up as a jw but never got baptised.
i have distanced myself from jw teachings for at least 10 years.. recently i was reading dawkins "the god delusion".

keep it secret has been wts child abuse policy for years.
he said the policy that jehovah's witnesses have on how to handle cases of child abuse is without equal in the religious community.
why keep these forms secret?.
Thank You Andersons for your honesty and courage. I could never believe these things happened in the organization and I thought they were isolated incedences in Australia, but the more I talked to others about it the more I realized it was happening too often.
I have to again agree and state its not only a sin to abuse children but it is a CRIME.... In Australia there was a programme many years ago on TV. And they said they would follow up on it, but they never did. I know of pesonnaly 3 cases where the victims were told not to speak out about it and that the elders would deal with it. I was so annoyed that the parents didn't go straight to the police, but they would have been outcasts.

google is not my friend anymore, it seems, i cant find a thing.. i was searching for the audio file where john may, the elder from dublin, tells his story when he traveled to brooklyn to find out the truth about the ray franz incident.
i do not mean the talk of his that you can find on 4jehovah.org or 4witness.org, this was a different audio testimony where he just basically tells what happened to him and to his irish elder friend merriman when they wanted to discuss the rf issue with the gb.

I've just listened to the audio of John May and was impressed. Can anyone please tell me what sept. 15 wt. it was, what year?
my wife got back from the meeting yesterday, and she couldn't believe the topic for the wt study "speak truth with your neighbor".
anyway they were commenting and someone said that its ok to streach the truth if your talking to "wicked" people.
but in paragraph 7 they said that if an elder asks you personal questions you have to cooperate and the truth so they can carry out their assigned duties.
You are right shamus. I haven't been ds but because my wife has, its a difficult situation. I read Barbara Anderson's story and I can't imagine not seeing my grandson(even if its for a short time).
I haven't been hypocritical just haven't spoken out.

Well bluecanary, you won't believe it, but because her husband's family are in the "truth" they started to go to the meetings, even after her mother-in-law called her a slut and tried to dig up as much dirt on her as she could, without prevail. Now she is re-instated and he hubby is baptized and they have a new son, everything is fogotten by her in-laws(arseholes). Now Ihave remarried and my wife is ds and trying to go back, because both our families won't talk to us. Our kids have said that they have been told that they want our grandchildren to survive ARMAGGEDON. So we are being blackmailed to go back until reinstated and then we will slowly drift away. How's that for emotional blackmail and listening to men. If anyone says to me it is not a cult, I could just about scream. What I have seen and heard about so much hypocricy is unbeleivable and I thank God for sites like this where we can tell our stories. At least thereis somewhere where we can tell the truth and be truthful..
