"Priviledge of service"
Mowing the lawn is not a priviledge. Cleaning the bathroom is not a priviledge. Setting up a district convention at 6 a.m. is not a priviledge. Its a shit job that no one wants to do and it wastes my time. If you called it a sacrifce, FINE. I might even do it. Don't make it seem like people would normally be lining up to wipe the shit out of your toilet.
i just want to say something about witnesses who come here just to try to rebel rouse as opposed to jws that come here and are "searching" or are "active" members in the organization but are reading info on this site.. there's no reason to "beat down" witnesses just because they still go to meetings and we don't.
i've seen some insulting words against present elders and it's unnecessary and judgmental, in my honest opinion.
some jws like to spar with us on this board and it's a losing effort for them in reality.. who knows when or what will make someone actually leave the tentacles of the organization.
I think if someone comes out and says they're looking for help and are still in, people here are EXTREMELY nice and helpful. THere are many examples.
I think the witness bashing goes too far (like people make it seem like every teaching, every act, every motive and every person that is part of JWs are evil creatures hell bent on controlling your mind and ruining your life). That simply is not the case. And it can be a big turn off for people like myself who are surrounded by witnesses who are fundamentally good people believing something that I just dont think is right. I dont believe that every CO and DO and even governing body member is twidling their thumbs on how to screw the R&F. Most are honestly trying to do whats best I believe. Some aren't. And they all, I believe, don't have the truth. I think its much better to attack the facts and not the motives and the people (in most cases).
another thread got me thinking about the process the wts uses in changing important teachings or long-standing practices.. first, the gb decides that some teaching or practice needs changing because (a) it's obviously wrong (example: 1975) or (b) it's time to tighten the grip (example: harsher rules on dfing).
once they come up with the new teaching, they have to decide what to do with the "old light" which they so dogmatically promoted as truth.. .
here are some propaganda tactics they have used effectively over the years:.

it happened to me this weekend.
i'm curently "active" and had some long time friends from a different congregation over for dinner.. we went through the formality of praying before the meal.
normally or rather lately i've been passing it off to someone else.
It happens to me on rare occassions and there is nothing wrong with giving thanks for various things. I dont know how any one can really disagree with things like "thank you for this food and the fine association we have here. We are really appreciative of our close family and friends and help us always to help one another through whatever trials may befall us" etc etc. You dont have to get all JW in your prayer. Make it what you are sincerely thankful for in life and tag it with "and in Jesus name Amen" and its a perfectly acceptable prayer and I think you will find you can agree with everything said yourself.

be patient on the organization/jehovah
eating from the table of demons (esp applied to stupid stuff like... music)
perfectly balancing the scales of justice
XXXX XXXX's sacrifice was then blessed by his/her being part of the lineage of Jesus Christ (that one always got me... the "yeah nothing good ever happened to this guy" fall back... how many assholes were also in that lineage?)

well, i remeber i had to, wel lhonestly, i didn't listen to music too much when i was younger, just on the radio, and i had no choice ( i didn't have a computer then and i was about 11 at that time) so we got a computwer when i was about 13 (i am currently 15..wow..i make myself sound old lol.

anyone who deeply believes in a "free press" is very naive in my opinion.
for example, consider how stories about scandal suddenly appear out of nowhere after candidates actually start running.
i am also aware of how surprizing revelations appear in european newspapers about figures in the us - while little or nothing is reported in the american press.
Meh... and of all the thousands of people that have known this vital secret, how have they been able to keep that under wraps? Why would they? Something with that widescale of an implication would find a way to get out IMO. As the people who know about it are getting old and gray and fading, and with all the millions of people out there looking to pick up a story and run with it, and all the ways to get things broadcast on the internet, it would find a way out. And I seriously doubt the whole world is keeping their lips zipped because they're worried that the Americans might flip out if they announced ETs are real.
I just don't buy the grand conspiracy.
Also, if ETs are ON EARTH for the past... hundred or more years, they're not going to be bothered zipping around Shanghai airport to confuse people with twinkling lights. If an ET were here in THIS solar system, then either this plant would be hostily taken over long ago OR we'd have learned something from being with near light speed transportation and not be wasting our time with oil! I dont think they'd be here for kicks to confuse people with an "unexplained" light show here or there.

has anyone ever been recognized and outed?
i am trying to not let too much personal information out here, but is there a real concern?.
I am fairly vague and sometimes I'll include an inaccurate piece of data if its fairly meaningless.
some people say "hovah' "jehoovah", etc.
or they'll say instead of jehovah's witnesses, "hovies"....etc.. do you think that it's appropriate?.
My concern is that there are a lot of active JWs who take a look at this website because they have doubts about the WTBTS and they are looking for answers.
With all the WT hype about the "evil apostates" it doesn't take much to scare them away.
If they see posts mocking the name Jehovah, I fear it will confirm their worst fears and drive them away needlessly.
It takes a lot of courage for them to visit a site like this and I would hate to see anyone driven away from info and support they desperately need.
This is the winner in my opinion. Many people here are disrepectful of JWs and their beliefs and/or angry at JWs and their beliefs. Its understandable but it definitely can be a turn off.

the main thing about PLAYING sports is allllll that time with worldly people. If you organized a JW league, no one would bother you ( at least to the extent that they don't bother you about watching sports)
