So I just got called a narcissist
by sabastious inmy family knows that i post on this forum (they have a packet of print outs of topics i have started) and they know about my videos on youtube.. they have made a demand that i cease all internet communication with the apostate community and then they will have me back.. i have refused.. they say i am a narcissist because i am ignoring the feelings of my family because they are very hurt by the things i am doing on the internet and speaking out against the religion.. interesting since they had to search out my posts and videos to gather evidence of apostasy.. -sab.

Surely you would agree that if a Mormon family split over doctrine and the exMormon mate was devastated by it, he/she would be well within rights to oppose or speak out against the LDS church, no?
Yes... but doing so presumes that those two people now hate each other.
If they were trying to reconcile, then it would expected she wouldn't go about attacking LDS, no?

Although I respect my family and do not talk about my views around them. But I don't hide it.
I dont think any of this makes you a narcisist. Also I think its wrong that any JW ruin their relationship with family members who don't believe anymore and its entirely their fault for such schisms. But in this case, I think its fair to say that its not naerly 100% their fault if they don't want to have a relationship with you.
Thats like being friends with a homosexual but openly posting hate-filled messages on anti-gay forums. You can't really say at that point, "well when I'm around my friend I keep it to myself so its all good."
So quite honestly, if they are willing to have a relationship with you if you keep your views to yourself (and they do the same which certainly may not be the case), I think they are being reasonable in that request.

Jesus Trashes 1914 in ONE Sentence!
by Farkel init only takes one short sentence from the bible to thoroughly demolish the watchtower religion and the doctrine they claim is their most important one.
this sentence is so crystal clear that there is no way the wts can weasal out of it.
that's why they don't even try.. although their real most important doctrine is that the governing body speaks for god, their claimed most important doctrine begins with the notion that jesus took kingdom power and began reigning in 1914. if that doctrine can be shown to be false, the entire watchtower theology scam crumbles into the trash heap where it belongs.

As you can see this won't work with a JW. Yes he was given all authority but was he excercising his RIGHT to use that authority? No, not until 1914.
Just like saying how can satan be ruler over the earth IF Jehovah is all-powerful Universal Sovereign. You cant be a soverign over more than the Universe and everything in the universe is part of his sovreignty. Ahh, but he is ALLOWING Satan to have rulership over the earth for some time for blahblahblahblablah

Could the invention of religion have been a mistake?
by Mad Sweeney inis it possible (and is there any evidence?
) that religion was invented by mistake?
that perhaps someone wanting to describe the reasons for things not understood used metaphors that the ignorant took literally?

I think its a natural thing to occur. Man needed to explain many things. The sun rising. The earth shaking. His existence. Why all the animals and plants and trees exist. Someone who did all that (i.e. a God or Gods) is a very reasonable primitive thought to have.
I would venture that every primitive culture would develop religion independendly and very early on in their history.

I'm not a geologist and to try and pretend I am is just silly
No, you're not. All you know is that people who ARE geologists are wrong about their not being a global flood. Their lifetime of work and research is wrong. And they all have a bias to never admit there ever was a flood. Why? Why would Indian geologists or Chineese geologists or Athiest geologists all agree to team up and *believe* there was no flood? No, any scientists who found such evidence and could publish it in a peer-reviewed journal would have made a huge scientific discovery. Its what every geologists dreams of doing. Finding evidence for something new.
There is no consipracy or bias. Because there is no evidence. Because there was no flood.

Understanding Revelation (According to the JWs)
by brotherdan indebator (or any other current jw on the board),.
will you please explain to me the understanding of how the 7 trumpet blasts in revelation were fulfilled?
has it already happened?

Prophecy is only 100% in hindsight.
Then prophecy is useless.
In hind sight, it is clear that Notradamus' 51st quatrain referred to the burning of London. But it wasn't clear BEFOREHAND. It only happened to work when he figured out a way, in hindsight, to MAKE it work. Same goes for all these other things.
Give me something that is useful and actionable and maybe it will have SOME possible benefit. Dont' give me a bunch of crap that is filled with all the secrets of the world but we wont understand it until its past.

Its a defense mechanism that allows them to never have any question or doubt surface about the organization. Its insufficient to say "This organization had a problem and we took steps to correct the problem when we figured it out." Thats too bad because, honestly, thats a good thing. But no, they have to insist that there NEVER WAS A PROBLEM in the first place. That is when it becomes dangerous.

I think a brief history of time is a nice little simple book that gives a general overview of the history of science in this direction and allows for some thought provoking reading while not ever being too technical or difficult
