Thanks for the replies. We are not DAed or DFed, just inactive. I haven't been to a KH in about six years except for a few Memorials. (Don't do that anymore, though.) It's been about as long for hubby, except he would go every now and then, but not for the last few years. The elder who called is one of those wimpy ones, if you know what I mean. I must say that he is very nice, though. He has a baptized daughter who has gotten into a lot of trouble but was never DAed so I kind of think he is afraid to push anyone too hard.

Brother elder who used to be one of our best friends called out of the blue last night after about six years. I answered the phone. He identified himself and asked how I was then asked for hubby. After some small talk...how's the family and all that, he asked if we wanted to be reactivated. Hubby said no, not at this time. If we want to be reactivated at a later date we will call you. That was it. He did not try to set up a visit. (Must not have gotten wind of our Christmas decorations)
I am so glad that thanks to these message boards we knew what was coming. Still though, when hubby got off the phone he kind of wished he would have spoken his mind. Fortunately for us, we do not have family in. Just a very few friends we like to keep in contact with.
I really do not expect to hear from these jokers again unless they see our holiday decorations sometime down the road. Even then I kind of doubt it.
The nerve and hypocrisy of this is unbelievable. Hubby is probably still kicking himself today for not asking him "what took you so long?". Probably just as well. Should not have to deal with them for a while, if ever.

FARTING IN THE KINGDOM HALL.
by nightwarrior ini was lead to beleive that cleanlinness was next to godliness, that jehovah is a clean god, .
as we as a family sat down behind ( being the operative word ) a couple of elderly sisters ,arriving late we took the only seats available, even then we caused disruption as we even i were fighting over the seats as to where one would sit ,sure enough i allways seemed to end up in the firing line of these elderly fat arsed sisters, whom allways ended up farting in your face, the smell was so strong that you could actualy taste the stench it in the air 10 minutes later,i allways felt sick ,my children grinning .
how did you cope yourself

Why do farts stink?
For the benefit of the deaf.
(OK, so it's an old one, but I get a kick out of it every time I think of it.)

Strangest thing you were called on the carpet for.
by Icansaylucky ini would like to hear some of the strangest or most ridiculous thing you got in trouble with the elders for.
here is mine.. back in the early 70's i was married at the age of 18, typical witness thing to do.
my husband who was 6 years older than i ruled me like a overly strict father.

This was something I observed after the Watchtower Study... A little boy who could not have been more than three years old was being counseled by the Watchtower conductor and the child's mother. The kid messed up his rehearsed answer and the conductor was sternly telling him that this was serious business and that he would not call on him if he was going to fool around. You would think this little boy had committed the unforgivealble sin. You would think that stupid things like this would have made me walk out and never look back many years before I finally did! How rediculous!

Pathetic Circuit Assembly Experiences
by minimus ini just got back from today's circuit assembly.
i haven't been to one in the last 1 and a half yrs.
obviously, nothing has changed.

I haven't been to an assembly in about seven years. Even back then the experiences were starting to get really lame. Remember when all the experiences were about "bringing someone into the truth"? Guess that doesn't happen much anymore. Thank goodness!

Grandparents
by Granny Linda inhappy holiday, everyone.. i just wanted to say that being a grandparent is one of the greatest joy's.
i know there are other grandparents posting on this board who are proud of their offspring, too.. gosh, for all those lost years of having been raised jw - not really getting to know my maternal grandparents except through the eyes of an emotional jw.
sheeezzzzz.

Hi Granny, another proud grandparent here. My first grandchild is four months old. Hubby and I absolutely adore her! Everyday I regret having raised my kids as JW's. Fortunately they saw the cult for what it is and were never baptized. I feel like I have a second chance with my precious granddaughter. We will put up a tree this year and enjoy the things that we missed out on with our own children. Grandchildren are truly wonderful!

I'm not a big fan of music videos. Most of them don't make any sense to me. However, I do enjoy videos that include live concert footage. I also enjoy live concert DVD's or bootleg concert videos.
jaded (also of the aging rocker class, which is probably why I just don't get the music video thing)

A while back on a talk show one of the Wayon's brothers mentioned that his dad was a JW. I got the distinct impression that the mother and children were not JW's.

Can't pass up this topic. I absolutely LOVE rock concerts. Just saw Aerosmith and Kid Rock twice this past month and it was sooo much fun. No problem with the crowds at all. Also saw Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth this summer. Oh, and by the way, I'm 50. Makes me feel like a kid for a few hours. I do pay for it the next day, however. But it is worth it.

Sad isn't it? When we were "in" we really did believe that it was us that had the problem. We don't realize that it isn't us until we get out and start to think for ourselves again.
