  The laws of the land really only matter to the Society so far as it becomes a matter of legal liability. 'Bible principles' really only means 'Watchtower law'. And since WT already had its own rules for the elders about this, they're going to stop there and not question whether it's the right thing to call the police in cases of molestation.

  I mean, we're talking about the same people who were teaching well into the 20th century that rape is fornication. How much can you really expect from them?

  The GB must have thought this new light might be controversial, else why would they have felt the need to start out by telling JWs how appreciative they should be?

  Well, yeah. It was either going to be that or a flat-out appeal to authority. In this case, they kinda went with both--thought control and an appeal to authority all in the first couple of paragraphs.

  That is how one sister expressed her appreciation in a letter to the brothers who work at our world headquarters.

  There's a reason this shouldn't surprise us. The articles they write are clearly, at least in part, based upon letters they receive from JWs. The articles they write are not coincidence, as likely they're a response to what seems to be a pressing need on the part of those who write in. There's nothing supernatural about that, since they probably get enough letters about one subject, or one particularly noteworthy letter about one subject, and then write an article based on that.

  Think of how many times they quote from letters that were written. While we don't know if the quotes are legitimate, we do know that people do write to WT headquarters. That said, to suggest that the articles are proof that Jesus is feeding us is to make something ordinary--like writers responding to letters they receive from a number of people--seem extraordinary--as if the Governing Body is reading our minds or Jesus is reading our minds and then telling them what articles to write.

  ok i think most of you at some point have come across the apologetic saying "wait on jehovah" from jws whenever an injustice occurs in the organization.

  many have also used this expression to abandon evidence against the "truth".

  this has easily become one of my biggest pet peeves now since speaking to others about ttatt.

  Does that mean we are not personally responsible for what we believe? If we are not, then why is Babylon the Great? People are told to 'Get out of her' because of her sins. Were they supposed to wait, or act?

  Jesus said that if anyone says to you, 'I am he' and 'The due time has approached', do not go after them. Did he mean to say, wait on Jehovah to correct what they are saying, and then go after them anyway even if he doesn't correct them?

  consistently the wtbts has maintained that the 12 tribes mentioned by jesus are the world of mankind outside the 144 000 ruling class.

  wt aug.15/ 2009 page 8.. they also quote james 1:1 :--"12 spritual tribes--", of ---"the israel of god" gal.6:16 and maintain that the spiritual israel is made of 12 tribes,.

  so do we have 24 wt tribes?

  My understanding was that they now teach that those figurative 12 tribes of Israel represent the 'great crowd'. I think maybe there was an article in the 3/15/10 WT (or something, I forget the exact date), 'One Flock, One Shepherd', that discussed that in detail.

  It seems to me that the idea of this was to make the entire discussion as complex as possible. A JW isn't going to bother thinking about what the old belief was and when it was taught unless they're particularly studious. I think even if they go along with it all, they all had to know that only the 'anointed' at HQ had any real power, so this change is really only the natural progression of things for them.

  Peculiar though was how they managed to say, even though we haven't been appointed over all the belongings, we're pretty much going to act like we own them anyway, since we know Jesus is going to give them to us. Even though we're supposed to be in the kitchen, we've somehow expanded our authority to like, everywhere else in the household.

  Most JWs will just be bored and maybe discuss it briefly after the meeting, how hard all these articles were, but otherwise, it's on to the next WT issue/meeting/field service. The comments to be shared amongst JWs will probably consist of how amazing it is that Jehovah gave the 'slave' the ability to understand all this stuff, and that'll be it.

  I need some serious advice...

  i'm almost a year out of high school and of course, i'm not in college.

  i'm a pioneer (sigh) with little to no work experience and having a really hard time finding any work.

  i want to go back to college, but it's going to be difficult now that i'm a pioneer, and my parents cannot really afford the loans that will incur should i pursue going to college.

  There are plenty of resources available in terms of financial aid (FAFSA is a good start), but you will have to write a lot of letters/essays and do a lot of searching. How were your grades in school? That'll be a significant factor in being able to qualify for scholarships. I would think that having been out of school for a year might be factored into whether or not some entities will award you anything, but I may be wrong on that.

  Better to do the work to find some aid now than to pay later. Were there any subjects in high school that appealed to you? They could give you some insight on what major you should choose. But be sure of what your major will be and stick to it. Changing your mind will only make graduating a lot harder. Best to choose something you're in love with, if possible, because it does require a very intense commitment to tangle with all those courses, even if you're part-time.
