  My Boyfriend's not a Witness...

  alright, with my last post it should be obvious i'm in conflict...if it's not, then yeah.. my boyfriend is not a witness.

  he understands that witnesses can't marry or date non witnesses.

  but i guess could say we've been stalling...looking for a solution a gray area to that black and white situation...but with time getting as it is...stalling doesn't work anymore.

  No, I do not think the internet is dangerous. You missunderstand. I and many of my friends have met people on the internet. I wasted 4 years of my life on a long distance relationship. When we finally got together we had fallen in love with a person we imagined and the reality did not fit the picture. I am not saying that is true in your case. But you should meet to find out one way or another. I think after 1 year that is not "jumping in".

  Also I don't understand why you live life in fear. I grew up a witness but I do not believe the end is coming any time soon. Even if it did (yes I do have doubts at the back of my mind sometimes) I would not change what I have with my partner for anything.

  The first thing you need to do is meet this guy. Internet is great for introductions but can be dangerous as you need to build a real relationship rather than one based on fantasy.You might hate each other in real life. Or it might make things strong enough to accept people for who they are. You should not try and change him and he should accept your beliefs too. If you want to change them that is selfish and not true love.

  i have distanced myself from jw teachings for at least 10 years.. recently i was reading dawkins "the god delusion".

  Do YOU Consider Persons Who Fornicate As Being "Immoral"?

  if we were to accept the bible's view, anyone having sex with someone other than their spouse would be considered "immoral".

  The Bible has double standards. Look how many women King Solomon had. As such I do not see living with my partner without being married as sinfull. In this day and age, I consider a partner to be spouse. I wish my family would accept that and not keep pressuring me to get married. If we visit we have to stay in a B&B. Such fornicators that we are!

  Cheating on a spouse is a very different matter. That is in my opinion immoral. What other people do is up to them.

  HI there. I am fairly new on here. I grew up as a JW but never got baptised. I have distanced myself from JW teachings for at least 10 years.

  Recently I was reading Dawkins "The God Delusion". When my JW Brother came to visit he saw what I was reading and I explained that I was questioning the existence of God. He asked if he could leave me the blue evolution/creation book. I had a read just out of curiosity.

  Maybe it is just my memory, but it did not sound like the book I had read as a teenager. It looked the same and the pictures were the same, but it sounded different for some reason. Is it just my memory, or has some of it changed? Are JW's in a habit of rewording books?

  The one that used to get me was the Revelation Book. Hysterical. I wouldn't mind having a read of that again just for a bit of light entertainment. Has this book been updated with "new light".

  Note: I really need to get myself up top speed with all this new light business. I am 10 years out of date.

  Is Shunning an Act of Revenge?

  I was never baptised so am lucky this is not an issue for me. But I am sure Jesus would never have treated people in this way. Also the shunning has such double standards - why are df person shunned but not people that have simply left. If you are going to (incorrectly) apply that scripture then what is good for one must be good for the other. Or would that be too complicated as there are so many people who left that they would find themselves shunning most of the people they know?

  I had a friend who almost committed suicide through shunning. She was stupid enough to start smoking so was df. They were not interested in the reasons why. 4 years on she is still struggling to give up and struggling with depression. Rejected by everyone she knew. Her imediate family at least did not shun her even though she did not live with them. Should they be disfellowshiped too?

  What a nice loving religion.

  If you drive a car drunk in a 30 zone you get stopped for doing 50. You get confused cus you thought you were going really slow.

  If you drive a car stoned in a 30 zone you get stopped fror driving 20. You get confused cus you think you was going really fast.

  JW hijacked sisters my wedding

  just a few months ago my little jw sister got married at 19. i remember how excited she was when she started planning the wedding.

  both she and her partner made it clear that there were lots of none jw's present (myself included) so it was not to be a "theocratic" event.

  none of those stupid plays or performances.

  I would send all the freeloaders a nice card. Perhaps containing a copy of the article Blondie put on here (thank you for going to the trouble to do that) and a bill attached. You ate my food, and drank my wine. £25.99 plus service change. Cash or cheque accepted. I doubt they will though. My family have decided to put the matter behind them. It is now on the very very long list of things we don't talk about.

  I have made it clear to my family they will be having no involvement in the planning of my wedding next year. I am having a magician, a rock band, a bucket load of horse shoe confetti and every other pagan thing I can think of. I did draw the line at getting married in a church tho, think that would have been a step too far.

  Actually the band was really good. But they were just a band and did not have a compare. They didn't really have much chance to do owt. It literally was hijacked. You would have to see it to believe it.

  The band carried on for an hour longer without charging extra. Shows how the "worldy" people take more consideration to the couples wishes.

  I was a bit anoyed that Dad or Uncle did not step in. Even leaders among men cower patheticaly when it comes to WT. I get so annoyed with them sometimes.

  If You Could Go Back In Time ...

  assuming you could go back in time, and knowing what you know now, is there anything the 2009 you could say to that person you were while you were one of jehovah's witnesses, that would have gotten you out earlier, or easier?.

  in other words, have you learned anything now, or while you were exiting, that would have made a difference to you while you were a witness?

  and would it make any difference?

  I was raised a witness but from about 12 I knew it was not the truth. I really knew it was bol..x and even as a kid could not understand how everyone believed this crap.

  I would say to myself. "Stand up for yourself. Tell your parents how you feel. They will be hurt but they can't beat you for not believing (well they may try but it will be worth it).".

  That would have ended a 6 year sharade.
