Weekly Watchtower Study, March 28 - April 3, "Empowered to Overcome Any Trial"
by possible-san inwell, in my japanese forum, i often introduce weekly study articles to everybody, and everybody comments freely.. also in this forum, i'd like to do the same thing every week.. (if you wish, i would also post the schedule of other meetings every week.).
in my case, i do unsparing criticism mostly.. .

I like wannabefree's comments.
Anyways, Possible, I had know idea you were doing threads like these, how awesome!!
If I known I to would have made more comments. It's hard to catch thread on here... which is probably a good thing in some case. When people want to stay confidential... and even when people don't comment I'm sure they think about what is being said here. I understand to it helps when people make their comments even short and simple helps!
I also know publishing the paragraphs out of the article helps for the convenance and cuts time on people having to load it up on their computer. I fortunity have the extra two hours a week to dedicate my time to this... so yes Monday mornings I plan on getting on JWN and posting my new thread Catching the Manipulation in Sunday's Watchtower Article. And I will be looking forward for your post articles as well!! And will make my comments.
Just to make the comment on the topic Empowerd to Overcome Any Trial:
I found this Empowering when focusing on the inspiring words of wisdom.

Is there any way around this? (Preaching when you don't believe)
by venusinfauxfurs ini figure i can do more to wake friends and family up on the inside than the outside and i didn't come to that decision without a great deal of pain.
i know it's not "the truth" but it isn't a bad life for me,and i still very much believe in god.
the witnesses aren't right but neither are the mormons, the catholics, etc and i have other family devoted to both those faiths.

I know what you mean... when I was in, it was alot more comfortable and easier to stay in disregarding the facts! The panic attacks (which I not sure I will have to look at your other post about the subject) but it's because you are facing fear or gulit of leaving in most cases. Fear of not knowing were to go and who else is right with good beleifs and morals.
Find these stories incouraging or anything else you find on this website: http://www.freeminds.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=64&Itemid=580
for anyone still in, and loves God and the Bible, do you try to have conversations about those things at the door, rather than WT doctrine?
I still strongly believe in God!! and the Bible! just fyi if you are thinking that love changes somehow by chance when you leave...
But just to answer your question when you go out in service (as a not in but loves God and the bible)... You should use your Bible more then anything... Read a scripture from it that encourage you and maybe what goes along with what you went over in the Daily Text or Watchtower that month.
But if I were you my conscience would not allow me to go out in service.

Why Women Are Treated Second Class In This Organization?
by AvocadoJake inthe best bible scholars have been women in my realm of this religious world.
the women study their husbands watchtowers, prepare the parts, write their talks, put their ties on, get the shave cream out of their ears.
it must be hard and you must have the patiences of job, to be able to listen to, the many arrogant men and how you will (if you are a female annointed.

How much are the financial crises played up at meetings nowadays?
by Robert7 ini haven't been to a meeting in years... and with the us and european financial crises in play, i would imagine the jws would be all over this as the sign that "we're so close to the end"... that this system is ready to collapse.. for those of you going to meetings, is there much talk abou it... what about amongst people in conversation?
what are they saying?.
-
Butterflyleia85
I remember about four years ago they had a discusion that they may have to hold small meetings at homes... but that was just talk from one of the elders.

Let's play God.
by Knowsnothing insay you were god, and you happen to have fallen asleep for these past couple of thousand years.
you wake up to see all the turmoil and such happening in the world.. what would you do to make yourself known and to improve things in the world?.
i'll start it off.
-
Butterflyleia85
Interesting... a little confusing but interesting. So what got you to post this?
But just to play along...
I would not have left people with Instructions (Bible) just to have them argue, seperate, and say I'm right your wrong.
I think if he wants to get involved and our worship he should be more clear and enlightening.
I think that if he wants us to have free will and a choice then he should allow other people or give them the control over others.
If he wanted a leader or teacher that is good and humble, he should blattenly say "Here they are! Will you listen to them?"... and yeah not in ... "will the holy spirit showed me the way so you better listen to me"
To many people manipulate and decieve... they should be counciled or delt with by God the righteous judge.

Thoughts on my life now
by freshstart inthough there are still problems in my life, as with everyone's life, i see the world so much differently now.
i no longer feel threatened from "worldly" people, as though somehow they are out to destroy me or take advantage of me.
it's very mentally liberating to realize that those walls the organization so erroneously put up can be scaled and that there is true beauty waiting on the other side.

Butterflyleia85
I know what you mean! I remember thinking how horriable the world must be and how crupt people are but seriously it to getting to know that person individually that I was like No way! What makes me (us Jehovah's Witnesses) so special... my "worldly friend" had a good heart and wonderful upbringing with a pastor as a father. I have her on facebook now and every now and then look at her page... she is a misionary and preaching.
There are good people in this world and they are welcoming and friendly just the same... expect they respect and don't disown their own... they are always there for them!
I haven't read your other post but I will just so I see where you are on things but thanks for posting!! It's so encouraging to see more and more people freeing from a constricted spirit!

How many ex-JW's are musicians on here?
by NoRegrets injust wondering how many of us on here are musicians, what we play, and if we had witness bands and/or performed.
i have had quite a few funny moments of being in bands that wanted to be cool, but always had to nerf the edginess of any songs we played and watch the noise!
i played with different elders who loved to rock out, but when they played at a congregation party didn't even want to use overdrive of any kind!
