A JWN Member just lost her Husband and She could use some encouragement.
by ohiocowboy inon 4/6, the poster orphan annie posted about her experiences with jw's and her ill husband.
unfortunately, her husband died monday, and she is feeling very sad.
i just wanted to make others aware of it, so that we can encourage her and give her some much needed support during this rough time.. her original thread is here.

People leave the Org but don't drop the doctrine?
by Momma-Tossed-Me inthis deserved its own thread.
one thing i have observed being able to speak freely to individuals now about the wtbts is that even though they fade, they hold one to all or a portion of the doctrine.. if you examine the doctrine openly and fully you will see it has as many holes in it as the org does.
although it may appeal to you it doesn't make it sound scripturally.

The Moral Life
by Butterflyleia85 in"the moral life a thematically arranged anthology of philosophical readings, contains an unusually wide range of topics including religion, sexual relations, capital punishment, and genectic engineering.
steve luper and curtis brown have expanded the readings for the second edition to include full introductory chapter on ethical theory and a new chapter on terrorism.
new selections throughout the text include writing from confucius, hinayana and mahayana scriptures, walter block, and michael walzer.. the moral life features wide coverage of many topics; chapter introductions that describe the readings and place them in a rhetorical framework, a good balance of opposing points of view and end of chapter questions.".

(book my husband was given by his grandma, that I picked up and decided to read) Letters From A Skeptic, A Son Wrestles with His Father's Questions about Christianity by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd. It's so far about a son and father writing letters to each other about God, religion, and why believe. The son is a pastor (also a professor of theology at Bethel College) and the father is the skeptic... they both bring up good debates on why or why not to believe in some higher power...

I do see now why to many on here didn't share their input. I did a search on "spirituality" on JWN an came across this from 2 months ago: http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/220892/2/Do-You-Consider-Yourself-Religious-Do-You-Believe-In-God-Are-You-Spiritual
Ha Very Interesting topic.
I am reading "Letters From A Skeptic" by Dr. Gregory A. Boyd. I must say some of you nonbelievers in God should read this. I'm not finished with it so therefore it left me still open to my opinion of why choosing Jesus Christ as God, or Jehovah for that matter... I still think God as God because He (God) didn't really clarify who he wanted to be known as.
Any who... Still on my Journey... And enjoying the ride because it still leaves me open and free to choose and to do good because I want to not because some being told me too! Respect and be respected. :)

That sounds like most everyone around here!!! I feel like I am the only one in my state or town that has actually care to look in deeper... they are all afraid or could care less (family, few non baptised friends, exjw friends i bump into, etc)... I guess they don't see the connection to their behavior linking to why or what makes us think the way we do (god, other religions, paradise on earth, holidays, paganism, etc.).

WTWizard, Field Service to me was like a obligated duty... saving lives, giving "godly" information, and well human soul and universe still people live simple lives as a Jehovah Witness or not I believe some people just don't care to think that deep. ( Me will I do but I don't really talk about it, hince why I always come to this exJW boards cause, spiritually is a touchy subject for many, I am very curious about the human soul our universe)
I think I recall the creation book though touching on this subject in a logical way of thinking, or scientific way as far as human soul and universe goes.
As far as you touching on some interesting subjects such as witchcraft and psychic readings... things that are pagan (in a good way of speaking) I to find it interesting. Mine though are the idea of power, magic, and spells... I guess it started out with watching David Blaine in some of his magic performances. I was curious how real it could be, and then I came across some sites talking about the powers within, supernatural powers, and out of body experiences (http://vivekananda.hubpages.com/hub/supernatural_powers_and_indian_yogis ; http://www.near-death.com/experiences/evidence02.html). Anyways all these are interesting but a bet out of my norm, it's more enjoyment for me, and now, then, like shows or movies having to do with supernatural or parnormal. I love also playing a video game called Skyrim! lol
I'm still to afraid to involve the demons in my life! I think my husband likes to mess around with the idea and teases me for not allowing certain things in the house or watching posessed people having exorcisms. To to Scary! (Though I have watched a few movies with exorcisms.) I played once with a Ouija board when I was well not sober, and just was DFed for the first time (6 years ago), was hanging out with a few crazy ppl... I sware it moved on it's own an that was it for me. I guess I'm a bet superstitious. My husband loves staying in haunted bed and breakfasts and wants to stay in a haunted penitentiary sometime!! Sheww no no way. lol
I want to be spiritually connected in a lighter way... I guess that's why I like to work out that feeling when your body releases endorphins! ;)
I guess right now I think it's all what's important to us in our lives and living to hold on to it!
So Spiritual is looking within? Am I correct. If that is true, yes, I am very spiritual, and like you said Fernando, just not religious.

My son was murdered today
by truman ini have been on this site daily, almost from its beginning, since i left the jws in 2001, but i have been more of a reader than a poster, as you can see from my post count.
i know few here know me, although i know many of you through reading your posts.
maybe it is not right to ask for support, when i generally stay quietly in the background of this forum, but i want only to speak a human misery of the deepest kind.

Awww truman I wish I could hug you like the lady did at Marshalls. I just feel so aweful to hear such pain! All I wish is this new chapter in you life to be a special one. That's kinda how my grandma and I look at it when grandpa died... it was a new chapter different world but yet he was there in spirit... spirit I mean I could hear him telling me how cute my son was and playing ball with him. If you still just remember the good times you had with your son, talk about him, and hold him as inspirational... well for me that's what made me smile... it will take time I guess when memories won't hurt as bad but will be a blessing. I still to this day dream about my grandpa daily. You will dream about your son daily too.

"Cabin in the Woods" a mockery of the Judeo/christian Myth?
by hamsterbait insaw it today.. realised soon it was about an ancient death cult, who had updated its technology.. but the idea of watchers - guiding and manipulating depending on the culture_.
philosophically, i thought this was a major criticism of the religious myths of the west, where the true nature of reality is like the back stage of a theater, with god and satan watching us all and pushing buttons as required.. i always hated the proverb about god "wrecking the work of your hands" simply because you didnt tell him he is wonderful.. the gory end was so ott that i was laughing.. what did you think of this chiller thriller??.

shawn10538 wow never been to bethel that was a inspirational dream i had in the past til a few "brothers" and "sisters" from my hall told me how it really was over there, one sister's daughter was even in the young people's ask video!!! for me though, i wanted to draw in there art department!! instead i talked to the overseer about joining the building commity, they said i needed to fill out an application. things started going down hill spiritually before up hill. and so most of my goals changed. i let my jealousy get the best of me and my desires began to show it's true color. :( not proud of it but now i can see why i went from one extreme to the other.
haha and yeah i take really good notes too, i had to for school and meetings etc.
