What year Did you Stop Attending Meetings - How Long were you a JW ?
by flipper ini'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

Born in, left at 36 in 2009. Was DF'd for a while in the late nineties, and worst mistake ever in coming back. Not df'd, yet, just faded but I don't hide my "badness"

Oh trust me IronHill...I get that. I wanted to write a "F U" letter, but it's not what my husband is comfortable with, so I haven't pressed it. He did however say he'd like for me to send a lawyer like letter if they contacted us regarding an announcement, just to have them jump. I actually did threaten legal action
(my daughters were touched, and was never handled with the 3 committee meetings, then the PO that headed the meetings denied there ever being a committee, and said it was all OUR problem with slandering him. The other elder that was with him in this drop by "do you need encouragement to come back? visit" was a dear friend, and he knew the PO was lying. I threatened it then, and we've not heard a peep from them since)
So, I don't write a letter in respect for my husband, it's apparently at a stalemate. I respect those that do write a letter on their terms though. Good for you. How is Lorijis (sp) handling this?

Friendship with the opposite sex
by LoriJis ini have to ask a personal questions.
do you think it is ok to have a friendship with someone of the opposite sex if you are in a serious relationship or married?
nothing intimate just friendship.

I think it matters very little what the person you are friends with has for genitals. As long as you don't intend on getting them out and using them with your friend, then it's just friends. If there are feelings, desires or wants to use your genitals, then it's a problem. If you use this friendship to get something intimate/emotional that you don't get with your spouse, then it can be dangerous....but not something forbidden in my opinion. What it boils down to is to respect the opinion of your significant other, it matters little what everyone else feels about the situation, as it's outside of their reality. It's only yours.

I am just absolutely astounded that this hasn't happened to my husband and I. They know full well we've celebrated birthdays, halloween, Xmas etc! I almost wish it'd already happen, but my husband doesn't want to write a letter because thats playing by their rules.
Do they contact you when they make this announcement?
::Edited to add:: How rude of me! I forgot to congratulate you!

Thank you everyone for your kind replies. I know no one here can know the tough road we've dealt with, leaving the religion aside, but I appreciate you taking the time to respond kindly :)
Yes, things just may be looking up.

We still will lose our house, it's already too far into the courts proceedings to save it, but hopefully we'll be able to stay in the area to not change the kids schools. We'll see.
