Honestly, I was so taken aback by the title that I didnt bother to read the article!
I was curious as to what it said though - more mind-numbing thoughts coming from the WT.
i was taken aback that paragraph 11 basically says that a relationship with god does not even begin until after dedication and baptism.
did anyone notice this?
i've been trying to find any similar statements in the wtl but so far haven't come up with anything.

suppose you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter.
would you pick up that candy and eat it?
that candy is unclean.
Suppose you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter. Would you pick up that candy and eat it? Of course not! That candy is unclean. Like that candy, holidays may seem sweet, but they have been picked up from unclean places. To take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet Isaiah, who told true worshipers: “Touch nothing unclean.”—Isaiah 52:11.
What does the Bible Really Teach? chapter 16, par 12
I was just thinking about this illustration last night , and it was discussed on another thread!
I just had an interesting conversation with a family member regarding Russell - the symbols, Pyramidology, and how he arrived at 1914, etc....
Since the 1914 date is the cornerstone of JW beliefs, couldnt you use the above illustration to show the "unclean" origins of the religion??

Great stuff! Thanks!
Three words that send a chill up the spine of a JW:
When Prophecy Fails

so sad.
how can you even hold a 5-year-old accountable for anything, anyways?.
"Love Never Fails!"
He has since disowned the poor boy for having received blood, as lawyers from the church intervened and secured his bail.
Isnt that throwing the baby out with the bath water - literally?????

Great Post!
And the borg has the audacity to make that the "Year Text"
Love in JW land is a screwed-up emotion.
i am so curious about that topic.. i would love a committee to drag someone in the back room to disfellowship them for giving blood, and then hope that the person simply says "well, i wanted my blood to be used to donate fractions for my brothers and sisters!".
.
I just checked my old Pharisee manual - it says that "Failure to Abstain From Blood" is considered apostasy.....
I would assume that most elders would lump giving blood into accepting a transfusion.....just a guess on my part, but as many of us know, if a committee gets it in for you, you can change the "rules".

well after fading and keeping a low key i think the elders are finally going to get to me.
in 2007 i moved to another city but quickly moved back home about two months later.
the whole time everyone from my old congregation has been thinking i've been in another city.
Simply by agreeing and meeting with them, it indicates that the person will still answer to the elders.
Exactly - And remember when they want to "encourage" you, that can quickly turn into a witch hunt - even if its someone who previously was a "friend". Most elders would LOVE to know the real reason why people bolt from the congregation.
im currently studying from keep yourself in gods love.
having read a couple of wt books and magazines i expect it to be full of logical fallacies, scholary dishonesty, irrelevant illustrations, mind-control and scripture taken out of context.. but the writer want to give even more so he apparently saw it fit to randomly insert really, really stupid statement.
to clarify - they dont serve any purpose, there does not seem to be a point with them, they are just so incredibly retarded you dont know if you should laugh or cry.. an example is the first two lines of the section "those who god love" on page 26. the writer want to convince us that we cant choose our friends ourselves, and he write: [my translation].
That is classic!
That book (along with all of the other WT literature) has the same writing level of the "See Spot Run" series we read in Preschool!
collecting money after every meeting.
i could never get someone to help, and i was always last to leave.
when i did finally have one person who would help, if i used them too often i got questions about why the two of us were always taking the contributions.
