Hm, so I guess I can safely demand oral sex from JWs with lipstick? And Jamie, I don't know about the other two you mentioned willing to pay, but the second one will sure be happy he found a lipstick wearing girl.

Seeing JWs in settings that one would normally not see JWs...
by undercover inthe topic "no shorts, no t-shirts, no paradise", er, i mean "no shirts or t-shirts after the convention" had a post that reminded me of an experience i had that didn't really fit the subject of the thread, so i'll start my own thread and maybe we can share stories about how we have spotted jws in unique or strange settings.. this is the exchange on the other thread that sparked my memory:.
my absolute favorite (not) was when i went to the international convention in moscow.
i got switzerland as the side tour, and even though the convention was over and we were in another country, the females all had to be in skirts or dresses wherever we went.

If she was arrested, no doubt she would see it as a proof that there were truly demons there, that didn't want her to read the WT.

Would you rather pick up a candy from the fresh gutter, or from the month-old, dried gutter? Christmas is wrong because 2000 years ago some celebrated a pagan god around that day, but 1914 is ok, even though just over 100 years ago someone came to that date using pyramidology and numerology.

concerning "morality" in the congregation, did you ever think "how do we have the nerve to judge "worldley " people ?
by looloo inwhen i was a study , at first i was really impressed with the high morals in the congregation and how "happy "everyone seemed , i eventually fell for a pioneer and commited adultery , which i felt and was made to feel the most wicked woman in the world for .
(i am married to him now ) but after i left i found out just how much had really been going on in the cong , there was one brother who had been having an affair for 5 years with a sister (he was married ) he only got reprooved and she was disfellowshipped !
i found out lots of people who wed in the hall had already done the "deed" child abuse had not been reported etc domestic violence situations , all though i am not in a position to judge "wrong doing " myself im amazed that so many in the cong had the nerve to look down on church goers "immorality " or "worldly people considering what they knew had gone on in the kingdom hall !.

The JWs came to an anectodal point of believing the written words more than their eyes. The literature tells them the org is the pinnacle of morality, so that is the accepted truth. Any incident personally experienced is categorized as isolated one, not representative of the whole congregation. One has to look for global forums like JWN to see that they are not isolated at all, JWs are perfectly human, morally not above others in any respect. Of course that sort of research is highly discouraged and the source of the information discredited all time.

Doesn't matter to me girl, I'm not even english, so I won't notice
Taking advantage of your post to say not everyone on this site has english as native language, so one more reason not to judge people on spelling.
Oh and highdose, there are spell checkers too, I mean for business purposes, where it counts a tiny bit more than on a public forum.

promoting Satanism to the young
by Weeping inone of the top songs of the 70's was "hotel california" by the eagles.
most people have no idea the song refers to the church of satan, which happens to be located in a converted hotel on california street.
on the inside of the album cover, looking down on the festivities, is anton lavey, the founder of the church of satan and author of the satanic bible!

Lol Bohm, that's a perfect JW argument. Have you been reading WT lately perhaps?

Have you actually listened or read the lyrics of "Hotel California"? Assigning satanism to that song is as far fetched as listening in reverse to songs and thinking you actually discern some hidden message. The song in my interpretation was always about drug abuse, a theme often found in many cryptic sounding songs. I take the courage to paste here some of these "satanic" verses which point to drugs:
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I was thinking to myself, / "this could be heaven or this could be hell"
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis
she said "we are all just prisoners here, of our own device"
they just can't kill the beast - beast here being their addiction.
You can checkout any time you like, / But you can never leave! - once again great allegory to the addiction
It seems Wikipedia says it's generally about hedonism, and decadent lifestyle - as in describing its dark nature, not promoting it (the Wikipedia article mentions the urban legend of the Curch of Satan too). Serves right for the Eagles to actually speak in allegory Funny, but it reminds me of Jesus, the people thought he promoted cannibalism at one time. Some people seem to lack the capability to understand deeper meanings, and you have to say to them clearly what you mean, or they will never get it.

I'm a bit unsure about this. It's not actually involvement, it's just an appeal to the authorities. Still, it's somewhat like when Jerusalem was attacked by Babylon, and Zedekiah went to Egypt (heh, just a coincidence, nothing more) to get help. If the UN is the tool of the devil, then its help would be at least partly from the devil himself.
The document is a bit vague (or I'm too superficial reader?), I hope the UN won't jump at the first sign, and will ask for clarifications. For example, in the section "Accusations and Abuses" it says nothing about the current situation, only that in the 60s they were labeled Zionists. I would be quite surprised if this is why they are still banned, maybe it has more to do with, say the blood ban, the shunning, and extreme pushing of the religion?

Loz: thanks, in english it actually sounds less bizarre. In my language the song ends just like I said, no mention about "for you we would live", only "if needed we will die for you". How's that for weird?
